The trade unions have strengthened their capacity to mobilise and organise Tsunami-affected people, in order to help them build their livelihood and create awareness on their entitlements and rights
Through their individual action programmes the trade unions have contributed constructively to the monitoring and delivery of livelihood recovery and reconstruction assistance to the tsunami-affected areas to ensure that the principles of participation, equity and transparency are adhered to and these communities are provided due consultation, advocacy and support.

Trained 890 beneficiaries under the project in 18 different activities.
Paid Membership for the period of June 05 to January 08 stood at 14,000 in Project Districts of Nagapattinam.
More than 80% were enrolled in the welfare board More than 2000 claims were filed on behalf of the
members. 5 blocks, 28 Panchyat , 20 Village and 6700 people
benefited directly or indirectly from this project.
