Life with a disability is still well worth living for the

e" ected person as well as for their relatives, with

the quality being a decisive factor.

Up until � ve years ago, our bathroom had a very

small – only 80x80 cm – shower. It had greatly

hindered my independence since contracting MS

several years ago. When taking a shower, I was

always reliant on my husband. He regularly got

wet, and the water often ran all the way into the

hallway.

Then one day, out of the blue, the glass of the

shower wall „exploded“, forcing us to consider

modernizing the bathroom to some degree. We

decided to get rid of the bathtub and install a

larger shower instead.

Thousands of Possibilities


Over ten years ago we put ourselves on the waiting list for a senior living facility in Hamburg, with the intention

of spending our golden years there, near our children. Since then, we have found out enough about some � rst

class facilities to reach the decision that we wish to remain on our own, in our home.

After seeing how our parents deteriorated and became increasingly frail over time, we decided to make our

home handicapped accessible.

Our thought was to pursue the concept of „barrier-free living for seniors“ in the design of our bathroom. Despite

the limited space, we wanted to have the greatest possible � exibility and freedom of movement. We found

the solution in the „Kaiser Vario shower

system,“ developed by the company

What good is a bathtub if one can‘t

get stand up again and get out?

My husband’s health called for

What does this shower have that

others don‘t?

It is installed completely � ush
