USM is an ISO-14001/TS-16949 certified company. USM is a leading manufacturer of specialized axle housings and components for the domestic automotive industry. Its unique proprietary cold forming process produces highly engineered VARI-LITE ® tubular products that provide equal to or higher strength than traditional designs. It manufactures products including front and rear semi-float and full-float axle housings, axle shafts, yokes, conventional differential case housings & IDS (intermediate drive shafts). USM is the single largest supplier of axle housings used on Salisbury type axles in North America. The recent issues that face the automotive industry have put an emphasis on the need to improve fuel efficiency and USM is positioned in the automotive industry to provide significant cost and weight savings. Its VARI-LITE ® products are typically 30 percent lighter and not only improve fuel efficiency of the vehicles, but also reduce the amount of natural resources used in steel making and the greenhouse gas emissions associated with steel production.
