BIO
Cuba 1967. Singer composer and also producer. In 1994 he founded and led the rock band Lucha Almada as first professional experience before emigrating to Spain in 1966.
In the late 80s and early 90s had called and gathered together at the "Peña of 13 & 8" the most of the members of Havana Oculta (Nube Negra,1995) wich becomes Habana Abierta (BMG Ariola, 1997), representative group of a hole generation of Cuban creators, based since 1996 in Madrid, Spain.
Titles of his authorship as "Divino Guión", "Ahora Sí Tengo la Llave," "Lo Bueno No Sale Barato" "Corazón Boomerang" or "La Habana a Todo Color" among others are identifying the phonographic repertoire of Habana Abierta, and his voice as one of the most visible and fundamental of this group.
In Vanito’s songs a wide range of influences manage to live together and resonate with each other in a particularly organic and distinctive fusion: funky, son, blues, R & B, rock, guaracha ... and place it as one of the best Cuban lyricists these times being played by the duo Gema y Pavel, David Montes, X Alfonso, Tomasito, Mezcla, Rochy Ameneiro, Habáname, Trio Enserie ...
Having studied Performing Arts at the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) in Havana, he has earned to deploy versatility both in its conception of the song as in his stage projection, as solo accompanying himself on a single guitar that accompanied by musicians in front of any audience capacity.
In 2015 Vanito Brown makes his solo debut with ‘Norte Sur Este y Aquel’ (Bis Music 2014) album, recorded under his musical production at Maykel Barzagas’ studio -MB Sound- in Havana with the participation there of a high valuable base of cubans musicians as Gaston Joya, Yaroldi Abreu, Rodney Barreto and Tony Rodriguez among others.
