Vangelis Trigas Music Ensemble

Vangelis Trigas and his music ensemble present the music performance “Optima”. The soloist and composer selects songs and instrumentals from various kinds of Greek and foreign music and introduces his own instrumental compositions all tuned together, offering a modern view of folk orchestra and at the same time of Greek music.As a soloist, Vangelis Trigas ventures to reassess bouzouki to its audience, underlining its broaden role and its potentials by a different, refined sound. He integrates harmonically bouzouki in the ensemble among the classical instruments - cello, classical guitar, contrabass, piano, mandolin.The new features in the orchestration, the new compositions, the remixes and adaptations have creatively assimilated different elements that altogether file a new music proposal. In total, it is a very interesting and of high aesthetics version of Greek and foreign music in which bouzouki has the leading role in a completely different hearing.The duration of the concert is two hours and together with Vangelis Trigas also perform:

CollaborationsAs a soloist, he has worked with the most well known quality singers and musicians (Maria Farantouri, George Dalaras, Haris Alexiou, Dimitris Mitropanos, Manolis Mitsias, Mary Linda, Manolis Lidakis, Vassilis Lekkas, Gerasimos Andreatos, et al) and with some of them he gave concerts in the most important music stages and theatres in Greece and abroad, (Herodeion-Megaron of Athens and Salonica - Munich Philarmonic-Wiener Konzerthaus etal).In 2015 he collaborated with the” Neue Philarmonie Westfalen” and the “Universitatschor Essen” choir, while in 2016 he collaborated with the Nis Symphony Orchestra

Teaching -BibliographyA very important part in his career is dedicated in teaching. A breakthrough for him personally and equally for bouzouki, was the deep research and study of the instrument, which resulted in a wel l -documented technique, followed by an integrated curriculum, equal to the ones of classical instruments. This work is contained in the three issues of the teaching Method, “Vangelis Trigas - Method for three string Bouzouki Vol 1,2,3”, a complete teaching method for Bouzouki.In his effort to spread this new teaching method for bouzouki, he has been giving since 2000 seminars through Skype and other Internet platforms.

Vangelis Trigas Vangelis Trigas is a soloist, composer, bouzouki tutor and a researcher of Greek folk music. He was born in Argos, Greece and from a very early age he had the life changing influence on bouzouki from his father, an amateur bouzouki player. He began his career at the early age of 15.

Ηis research and the recording study data he has done all these years resulted to 33 music books that are included in the series “Folk Composers”, “ Rembetika and Folk songs” “Artistic Folk Songs”, “Bouzouki Instrumentals”. This is the first time that the most important Greek folk songs and instrumentals are written down in notes and music sheets from their very original first recordings. These books are also part of the teaching curriculum.

RecordingsHe has recorded seven personal CD’s, three of which contain his own instrumental compositions for bouzouki while the others are live concert recordings. He has also participated in many recordings of other famous artists such as the exceptional recordings from Megaron of Athens and Herodeion Theatre with George Dalaras.A milestone for Vangelis Trigas is the CD “OPTIMA” that contain his latest compositions and was released in 2016. There, one can see clearly his refreshing ideas on bouzouki and the efforts to reposition this wonderful folk instrument in folk music.

Vangelis Trigas EnsembleUnder the same refreshing perspective Vangelis Trigas originated his music ensemble that give concerts in cultural establishments and festivals in Greece and abroad. The main goal of the ensemble is to promote bouzouki, the national Greek instrument and the Greek folk music in general. In these concerts the soloist selects the most valued songs from Greece and abroad, presents his compositions and strives to re-introduce Bouzouki and place its particular sound in harmony with the other instruments of his ensemble, mostly consisted of classical instruments cello, classical guitar, contrabass, piano and mandolin.Vangelis Trigas strives through this effort to introduce bouzouki to the audience from scratch, producing at the same time a new sound that harmonically co-exists with the other classical instruments, cello-classical guitar-contrabass-piano-mandolin. The combination of the refined folk elements from bouzouki on one hand and the classical outcome of the other instruments on the othe, result to a very interesting and of high artistic value new version of Greek folk music which is at the same time a new proposal.
