Take your career where you want it to go with the Vanderbilt MAcc.

Your gateway to business.

Nikki Palazzo Vanderbilt MAcc 2010Assurance Associate, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC, Charlotte, NC

Undergrad: Furman University, Communications and Business

Go-getter. Volleyballer. World Shaper.Nikki Palazzo likes being in the middle of things. At Furman, the

Georgia native was part of a championship volleyball team, completed three internships and studied abroad in Australia and New Zealand.

When she began looking at MAcc programs, in pursuit of working for a Big Four accounting firm, Nikki sought an academically challenging experience that would offer the sense of wider opportunity she had

enjoyed as an undergraduate. One reason she chose Vanderbilt, she says, “is that the MAcc program offers unlimited resources to both current

students and alumni…”

Are You Right for the Field?Vanderbilt actively seeks candidates who have demonstrated strong performance in diverse academic backgrounds, especially those who have strong communications skills and are ready to team with other top performers.

Accountant. Hockey Star. World Shaper.Though no official statistics exist, Charlotte Nicholson is likely the only gold-medal winner in Owen’s history. As a six-year member of the U.S. women’s national in-line hockey team, Charlotte has earned three golds, two silvers and a bronze. Though she continues to play hockey, Charlotte decided to

pursue accounting as her career. “I was blown away by what Owen had to offer: the small class size; the focus on communications, leadership

and teamwork; and the opportunity to take classes and have an internship all in one year,” she says…

Fark Tari Vanderbilt MAcc 2011Audit Associate, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Atlanta, GA

Undergrad: Vanderbilt University, Economics, Engineering Science

Accelerator. Auditor. World Shaper. Two years ago, Fark Tari was uncertain about what his future held. In his

first year as a Vanderbilt undergraduate, he did not perform well academically, lost a substantial amount of what had been a full-ride scholarship, and helped

put himself through school the rest of the way by working as a server at P.F. Chang’s. Though his grades improved, his overall GPA wasn’t “anything to

brag about,” he says. Then, after his junior year, he attended Vanderbilt’s Accelerator Summer Business Institute, “which turned everything around

for me.” He realized he was interested in a business career and applied to enter the Master of Accountancy program…

Director. Pilot. World Shaper.Claire Peterson had accomplished a lot by the time she graduated from Davidson College. She had lived or studied abroad in countries from Spain to Chile and New Zealand. She earned her pilot’s license. “Life is an adventure,” she says, “and I want to learn as much as possible.” Claire chose Vanderbilt in part because she found the MAcc program unique.

“It especially recruits people without an accounting background, so I felt that it celebrated the fact that I did something a little different with my undergraduate degree”…
