Vancouver Canucks - TSE GameTime ScriptPRO Implementation

CHALLENGES

Preparing for game day proved to be a tedious process for the Vancouver Canucks production team. The Canucks producer used Excel and Word documents as templates and adjusted those templates for each game. After the “final version” of the script was ready and 20-30 copies were made, additional edits were requested and that “final script” became null and void. The result was yet another “final version” and another 20-30 paper copies.

These changes also had to be adjusted on separate excel documents for the pa announcer, lighting operator, disc jockey, scoreboard/video board operators, promo team and producer based on their responsibilities and the information they needed to be aware of.

Communication was also challenging. Multiple emails requesting script edits would fill up the producer’s inbox leading up to, and even after, the required deadline. This lead to confusion and improper execution.

When it came to providing sponsors with an execution report, the team would have to manually search through each script document and create a tally report including what and when each element was executed. This process took weeks to finish.

The Canucks knew there had to be a better way to build, organize and execute their game day scripts and schedules.

SOLUTION

TSE provided the Canucks with an internet-based game management solution, TSE GameTime ScriptPRO. ScriptPRO was implemented into the Canuck’s game production process to streamline the entire game day planning and sponsorship execution flow. The system allows the Canucks to organize all elements of their events throughout the season in one main internet-based database. If changes are required, updates can be made in real-time from any internet driven device. With ScriptPRO all crew members have the most

up-to-date version of the script at their fingertips.

The Canucks also implemented the GO LIVE feature as part of ScriptPRO. GO LIVE automates the event script and provides a timestamp function used to ensure sponsorship execution. Proof of performance reports can now be emailed within minutes.

Script changes run smoother, sponsorship execution is easier and the communication among the production department and sponsorship department is much more efficient.

With time saved, and ease of mind that everything is being executed properly, the crew is able to focus on other responsibilities. ScriptPRO’s ability to adapt from day to day also gives the Canucks the flexibility to create a more dynamic script. Overall, the Canucks are running a much more streamlined “Show!”
