“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is

not to win but to take part, just as the most important

thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to

have fought well.”

• The three Olympic mascots are Quatchi, Sumi and Miga. Mukmuk is our “electronic” mascot.

• My favourite mascot is Quatchi. Although Quatchi is shy, he loves making friends and having adventures. He is hoping to work hard and become an Olympic Goalie. One of his favourite things to do is travel with friends and take pictures.

I am most like Quatchi because we both like chill blue. I love traveling too and once I even went up a mountain. Like Quatchi I also like photography.

Mukmuk is a cyberspace mascot who cheers on his friends and the Olympic Athletes. Mukmuk and all of the other marmots are an endangered species that only live on Vancouver Island. Mukmuk is trying to tell the people of Canada that the marmots are in danger. He loves to make friends with other marmots. Some people wanted Mukmuk to get official mascot status but only 200 people signed the petition so Mukmuk will remain in cyberspace.
