Tourniquet ScarfMake yourself a willing vampire victim with this scarf. Knit with red in the middle and embellished

with dripping blood, this vampy scarf can serve a dual purpose: neck warmer and tourniquet.

ScarfWith MC, cast on 40 stitches.

Work in stockinette stitch for 4 rows.

Next (picot) row (RS):K1, *yo, k2tog; repeat

from * to last stitch, k1.

Work in k2, p2 rib until piece measures 26"

(66cm), ending with a wrong side row.

Join CC.

Next row (RS):*K1 in MC, k1 in CC, p1 in MC, p1 in CC; repeat

from * across, carrying both strands of yarn together along

the back of the piece. Work as established for 3 more rows.

Cut MC.

With CC, work in k2, p2 rib for 32" (81cm), ending with a

wrong side row.

Join MC.

Next row (RS):*K1 in MC, k1 in CC, p1 in MC, p1 in CC; repeatfrom * across, carrying both strands of yarn together along

the back of the piece. Work as established for 3 more rows.

Cut CC.

With MC, work in k2, p2 rib for 25" (64cm) more, ending with

a wrong side row.

Next (picot) row (RS):K1, *yo, k2tog; repeat from * to last

stitch, k1.

Work in stockinette stitch for 3 rows. Bind off knitwise.

FinishingWeave in ends. Block after working duplicate stitch.

EMBELLISHMENT (OPTIONAL)

Using CC or DK weight yarn in contrasting color, use

duplicate stitch to create a dripping blood effect at both ends

of the CC section as shown. You can make it as dramatic or

subtle as you like so your scarf is truly one of a kind. If you

do opt for the embellishment, blocking the scarf will make it

look more polished.
