    Increasingly Challenging Drilling Environments

    The continuous development in oil and as drillin operations has resulted in a sinificant increase

    in extended-reach wells and horizontal drillin procedures. These deeper and more deviated wells call

    for drill strins with hiher torsional yield strenth drill pipe bodies and reater torque capacity tool joints

    than standard API connections can offer.

    Due to the hih financial risks associated with drillin operations today, oil and as companies

    are continuously lookin at mitiatin drillin risks and reducin total drillin costs. This involves

    improvin drillin efficiency and optimizin drillin prorams by usin versatile assets with superior

    performance capabilities.

    Operational Challenges

    Standard API connections have shown their limitations, both in terms of reach and in terms of hydraulic

    efficiency when drillin complex wells in challenin environments. Proprietary rotary double shoulder

    connections with API thread forms provide the extra performance capabilities necessary to facilitate

    drillin in all environments includin extended reach or ultra-deep wells and deepwater drillin,

    especially when combined with Sour Service or Arctic conditions.

    The Solution

    VAM EIS is a hih-torque, double-shoulder connection

    that is fully intermateable with API connections. As additional

    torque is applied, the pin nose makes contact with the internal

    shoulder. The internal shoulder absorbs the hiher frictional

    load, providin the connection with improved torque

    standard at cost efficiencies similar to that of API connections.The additional torsional strenth provides exceptional

    performance in the most difficult well conditions, such as

    hihly deviated or extended reach wells. This desin also

    benefits service life with a sinificantly reater wear capability.

    VAM EIS is available in drill pipe sizes from 2-7/8 to 6-5/8

    OD, includin 5-7/8, and in a wide rane of steel rades,

    includin Sour Service, low temperature and Hih Strenth.
