Why Calibrate

Vaisala’s best-in-class measurement instruments provide the highest accuracy and precision across all types of applications.

But even the highest performing measurement instruments drift over time. Drift can be caused by dirt and chemicals in the ambient air or simply by temperature changes.

Regular calibration protects against incremental sensor drift and verifies that units are operating within the given specifications.

Choosing the right calibration laboratory and service supplier can be as important for lifetime accuracy and reliability as the initial selection of the instrument.

Our high-performance calibration laboratories were established in 1958 and we are continually improving our technology, facilities, and capabilities to provide the high-quality services you expect from Vaisala.

Accredited Calibration

Many industries are required by regulatory bodies to comply with strict quality standards. We offer calibration services accredited by the world’s leading accreditation authorities. ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard used to accredit testing and calibration laboratories for measured quantities.

Standard CalibrationStandard calibration is regularly performed on our instruments before they leave the factory, with the selected calibration points varying by instrument. In order to maintain accuracy and avoid sensor drift over time, the equivalent calibration can also be purchased later.

Vaisala Calibration Includes:

Calibration Terminology

▪ Calibration – comparing the output of a measurement instrument against a reference instrument and reporting the result.

▪ Adjustment – changing the output to correspond to the output of a reference instrument.

▪ Traceability – a traceable measurement can be related to appropriate national or international standards through a documented, unbroken chain of comparisons.

▪ Uncertainty – a doubt that exists about the result of any measurement, calculated via three main sources: the reference used, the unit under calibration, and the calibration process used.

▪ Calibration Interval – the time between successive calibrations of an instrument.

Custom CalibrationIf specific calibration points critical to your operation are needed, we also offer custom calibration. Calibrating and adjusting your instrument specifically for the critical points where the product is used will ensure

Calibration as Part of Repair ServicesIf your instrument requires repairing, you can simply let us take care of it. The service includes repairing of the instrument with original parts, functionality testing and the calibration you need. You can be sure to receive the instrument in its original specification.
