23 I also pleaded with יהוה at that time, saying: 24 "O Master you have begun to show your servant your greatness ,יהוהand your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours? 25 Let me, I pray, pass over and see the good land beyond the Yarden—this good hill country, and L'vanon.”

26 But יהוה was enraged with me on your account, and would not listen to me, and יהוה said to me, "Enough! Speak to me no more regarding this matter. 27 Go up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward and look with your eyes, for you do not pass over this Yarden.

28 But charge Y'hoshua, and strengthen him and encourage him, for he shall pass over before this people and he will make them inherit the land which you will see.” 29 And we dwelt in the valley opposite Beit-P'or.

1 And now, O Isra’el, listen to the laws and the right-rulings which I am teaching you, for to follow them, so that you may live and go in and take possession of the land that יהוה Elohim of your fathers, is giving you. 2 Do not add to the word which I command you, nor take away from it, to guard the mitzvot of .your Elohim which I command you יהוה

3 Your eyes have seen what יהוה did at Ba'al-P'or, for all the men who followed Ba'al-P'or, יהוה your Elohim has destroyed from your midst, 4 but you who held fast to יהוה your Elohim are alive today, every one of you.

5 See, I have taught you laws and right-rulings, as יהוה my Elohim commanded me, to do so in the land to which you are entering to possess.

Page 6: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 2nd Aliyah (Deu 4)

6 And you shall guard them and do them, for that is your wisdom and your understanding in the eyes of the peoples, who will hear all these laws and say, "Only this great nation is a wise and understanding people." 7 For what great nation is there that has Elohim so near to it, as יהוה our Elohim is at all times whenever we call on Him?

Page 7: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 2nd Aliyah (Deu 4)

8 And what great nation is there that has righteous laws and right-rulings as this entire Torah which I set before you this day?

9 Only give heed to yourself, and guard your life diligently, lest you forget the Words that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And you shall make them known to your sons and your grandsons.

Page 8: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 2nd Aliyah (Deu 4)10 Remember the day you stood before יהוה your Elohim at

Horev, when יהוה said to me, “Assemble the people to me, and I will make them hear my Words so that they may learn to fear me all the days they live on the earth and that they may teach them to their children.” 11 And you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the very heart of the heavens—darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.

Page 9: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 2nd Aliyah (Deu 4)

12 Then יהוה spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard a voice of words but saw no form, just a voice. 13 And he declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to do, that is, the Ten Words, and he wrote them on two tablets of stone.

Va’etchanan 4th Aliyah (Deu 5)

1 Then Moshe called all Isra’el and said to them:“Hear, O Isra’el, the laws and the rulings which I am speaking

today in your hearing, that you shall learn them and observe them carefully. 2 יהוה our Elohim made a covenant with us in Horev. 3 יהוה did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive.

Page 11: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 4th Aliyah (Deu spoke with you face to face on the mountain from the יהוה 4(5

midst of the fire. 5 I stood between יהוה and you at that time, to declare to you the Word of יהוה; for you were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up the mountain. He said:

6 “I am יהוה your Elohim who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, out of the house of bondage.

7 “You shall have no other gods before me.

Page 12: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 4th Aliyah (Deu 5)

8 “You do not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 9 You do not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, יהוה your Elohim, am a jealous El, visiting the crookedness of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

10 but showing kindness to thousands, to those who love me and guard my mitzvot.

11 “You shall not take the Name of יהוה your Elohim in vain, for does not leave him unpunished who takes his name in יהוהvain.

12 “Guard the day of Shabbat to keep it holy, as יהוה your Elohim commanded you.

Page 14: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 4th Aliyah (Deu 5)

13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Shabbat of יהוה your Elohim; in it you do not do any work, you nor your son nor your daughter nor your male servant nor your female servant nor your ox nor your donkey nor any of your cattle nor your stranger who stays with you, so that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

Page 15: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 4th Aliyah (Deu 5)

15 And remember that you were a slave in the land of Mitsrayim, and יהוה your Elohim brought you out from there by a strong hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore יהוה your Elohim commanded you to observe the day of Shabbat.

Page 16: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 4th Aliyah (Deu 5)

16 “Respect your father and your mother, as יהוה your Elohim has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the soil which יהוה your Elohim gives you.

Page 17: Va’etchanan

17 “You do not murder.“You do not commit adultery.“You do not steal.“You do not bear false witness against your neighbour.

Page 18: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 4th Aliyah (Deu 5)

18 “You do not covet your neighbour’s wife; and you do not desire your neighbour’s house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbour’s.”

Page 19: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 5)

19 These Words יהוה spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice, which did not cease. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

20 So it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders.

Page 20: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 5)

21 And you said, “Surely יהוה our Elohim has shown us his esteem and his greatness, and we have heard his voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that Elohim speaks with man; yet he still lives. 22 Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of .our Elohim anymore, then we shall die יהוה

Page 21: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 5)

23 For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living Elohim speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? 24 You go near and hear all that יהוה our Elohim may say, and tell us all that יהוה our Elohim says to you, and we shall hear and do it.”

Page 22: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 5)

25 Then יהוה heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and יהוה said to me, “I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They are right in all that they have spoken. 26 Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear me and always guard all my mitzvot, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

27 “Go and say to them to return to their tents.

Page 23: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 5)

28 But as for you, stand here by me, and I will speak to you all the mitzvot, the laws, and the right-rulings which you shall teach them, that they shall do them in the land which I am giving them to possess.”

29 Therefore you shall be careful to do as יהוה your Elohim has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Page 24: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 5)

30 You shall walk in all the ways which יהוה your Elohim has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

Page 25: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 6)

1 “Now this is the mitzvah, and these are the laws and right-rulings which יהוה your Elohim has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are passing over to possess, 2 that you may fear יהוה your Elohim, to guard all his laws and his regulations and his mitzvot which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

Page 26: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 5th Aliyah (Deu 6)

3 Therefore hear, O Isra’el, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may increase greatly as Elohim of your fathers has promised you—'in a land יהוהflowing with milk and honey.'

Page 27: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 6th Aliyah (Deu 6)

4 Sh'ma, Yisra'el: יהוה Eloheinu, יהוה echad [Hear, O Isra'el: your יהוה is one]. 5 And you shall love יהוה ,our Elohim יהוהElohim with all your heart and with all your being and with all your might. 6 And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart.

Page 28: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 6th Aliyah (Deu 6)

7 And you shall impress them to your sons and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Page 29: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 6th Aliyah (Deu 6)

10 And it shall be, when יהוה your Elohim brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitz'chak and to Ya'akov, to give you—great and good cities which you did not build, 11 and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—and you shall eat and be satisfied,

Page 30: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 6th Aliyah (Deu 6)

12 beware, lest you forget יהוה, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, out of the house of bondage.

13 You shall fear only יהוה your Elohim; and you shall serve him and swear by his name. 14 Do not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you;

Page 31: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 6th Aliyah (Deu 6)

15 for יהוה your Elohim in the midst of you is a jealous El, lest the displeasure of יהוה your Elohim, be kindled against you, and he shall destroy you off the face of the earth. 16 You shall not try יהוה your Elohim as you tried him in Massah. 17 Diligently guard the mitzvot of יהוה your Elohim and his witnesses and his laws which he has commanded you.

Page 32: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 6th Aliyah (Deu 6)

18 And you shall do what is right and good in the eyes of יהוה, that it may be well with you and that you shall go in and possess the good land which יהוה swore to give your fathers, 19 to drive out all your enemies from before you, as יהוה has spoken.

Page 33: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 7th Aliyah (Deu 7)

1 When יהוה your Elohim brings you into the land to which you are entering to possess it, he shall clear away many nations before you—the Hitti, and the Girgashi, and the Emori, and the Kena'ani, and the P'rizi, and the Hivi and and the Y'vusi, seven nations greater and mightier than you—

Page 34: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 7th Aliyah (Deu 7)

2 And when יהוה your Elohim delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you must completely destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favour to them. 3 You do not intermarry with them. You do not give your daughter to his son, and you do not take his daughter for your son,

Page 35: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 7th Aliyah (Deu 7)

4 for he will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods; then the displeasure of יהוה shall be kindled against you and he will promptly destroy you. 5 But so shall you do to them: You shall break down their altars, and smash their sacred pillars, and cut down their Asherim and burn their carved images with fire.

Page 36: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 7th Aliyah (Deu 7)

6 For you are a set-apart people to יהוה your Elohim. יהוה your Elohim has chosen you to be his treasured people, out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

did not set his love on you nor choose you because you יהוה 7were more numerous than any people, for you were the least of all peoples.

Page 37: Va’etchanan

Va’etchanan 7th Aliyah (Deu 7)

8 But because of יהוה's love for you, and because he keeps the oath he swore to your fathers, יהוה brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim. 9 Know therefore that יהוה your Elohim; he is Elohim, the trustworthy El, who keeps his covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and guard his mitzvot.

10 But repays those who hate him to their face, to them;he does not delay to do so with him who hates him, he will repay

him to his face.11 Therefore, you shall guard the mitzvot, and the laws and the

right-rulings which I command you today, to do them.
