1.0 Purpose:This Procedure is intended to provide guidance and instructions for carrying out theOperation of Vacuum Pump

2.0 Scope:a) This Procedure is applicable to Condenser Vacuum Pumps in Phase-1 & 2 of APL,

Mundra.

3.0 Responsibility:a) All the personnel involved in carrying out /supervising the above activities are required to

ensure implementation of this procedure and may consult any other relevant documentsindicated under Reference section below.b) In the event of any changes required in the procedure such changes may be requested

with Site MR, who would take appropriate action with approval from respectivedepartmental heads.

4.0 Procedure:

4.0.1 Ensure No work permit is pending on vacuum pump4.0.2 Manual isolation valves on pump suction line at condenser Open

4.0.3 Ensure that the CEP/CCCW is running.

4.0.4 Vacuum pump breaker on turbine MCC is in Service

4.0.5 Cooler drain valves Close

4.0.6 Inlet valve of cooler from ACW Open

4.0.7 Outlet valve of cooler from ACW Open

4.0.8 Vacuum pump sealing water make-up valve Open

4.0.9 Ensure that separator tank level is normal

4.0.10 Separator tank make-up line Bypass valve Close

4.0.11 Separator tank drain Valve Close

4.0.12 Vacuum pump drain valve Close

4.0.13 Cooler drain valves Close

4.0.14 All instrument impulse line root valves Open

4.0.15 Ensure that the vacuum breaker Valve Close

4.0.16 Vacuum pump I/L MIV valve Open

4.0.17 Ensure that Gland steam header is charged (Incase of hot/warm

start)

4.0.18 EPB stop of vacuum pump. Release

4.0.19 Pump Inlet MOV Valve Close

4.1 Start vacuum pump from DCS

4.1.1 Check Motor current normal Normal

4.1.2 Check Inlet MOV of vacuum pump Open Open

4.1.3 Check Noise and vibration of Pump/Motor Normal

4.1.4 Check separator tank water level Normal

4.1.5 Check improvement of vacuum

4.2 2 nd Vacuum pump

4.2.1 Check and line up as described for 1 st Pump.

4.2.2 Start 2 nd Vacuum pump if required. Check as described for 1 st pump.

N: B: - When any vacuum pump put in interlock it started on auto when Vacuum is lessthan 88.0Kpa.
