I suspect Dayna and I will be the focus of all the fuss on Sunday as you commemo-rate our 20 years of serving as your pastor. We’ve been told that the service will celebrate our 20 years and that Rex Horne will be preaching, but other than that,
we’re in the dark on what’s going to happen. Twenty years is a long time. Some good things have happened. But you know the real story, don’t you? God gets the glory and you get the credit. Without Jesus, well, I wouldn’t be worth much to anybody. And without your prayers, your support, your patience, your love, your endurance, your encouragement, and your willing-ness to follow my lead from time to time, I’d just be another of a long string of pastors who served faithfully and moved on after a few short years. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes a pastor and a church just seem to be right for each other for the long haul. I guess that’s our story, and Dayna and I are grateful that it is.
I’ll write more about this later when I have a minute to really think it through. But for now, thank you for the privilege of being your pastor for two decades. It’s been a good ride, and Lord willing, we’re still not ready to get off.
I’m told Rex Horne will be preaching on Sunday. So enjoy some good preaching while you’ve got it. The old shoe will be back in the pulpit next week. See you Sunday.
Your Pastor, John
