One is how busy things get this time of year. Vacation Bible School is just around the corner. Then, there are youth camps, the college mission trip, the Lasara mission trip and children's camp. That just gets us through July. Are you tired yet? Each of these opportunities gives our faith family the opportunity to pour into the lives of children, youth, college students, and adults. The reach of our church is far beyond the limits of our city. All of these events are above and beyond our normal schedule of activities. When looking at this list, I see tons of opportunities for you to get plugged in and volunteer. This brings me to the second thought about summer. It seems churches across the country experience what I call the "Summer Slump." I hate the Summer Slump. Our busiest time of year is the time when the fewest amount of people are around. Let me encourage you to make service and worship a priority for your family this summer. Instead of a vacation, take a family mission trip. Volunteer to serve snacks for VBS. Sponsor a child or youth for camp. Make this summer the summer of service. God continues to open up doors of opportunity for our church. FBC has a history of being a church that plants churches. Once again, we have the opportunity to help in planting a new church in College Station. Some would ask why we need another church. The answer is simple, there are 110,000 people in our county who do not know Jesus as Lord. Our church is the lead sponsor for Aggieland Barn Fellowship, a church directed to reach the cowboy and western heritage culture in Brazos county. Todd Keller will be the church planter. Aggieland Barn Fellowship has great potential. It will be in a university town that has one of the largest agricultural student bodies in the nation. It will be located in an area that is surrounded by horses and horse people. It is targeted to reach a demographic that is not being reached by any other church around. Aggieland Barn Fellowship will begin meeting on June 2 at the Wellborn Community Center at 5pm. This will be an informational meeting. If you are interested in helping get Aggieland Barn Fellowship up and going, you can contact Todd Keller at [email protected]. The current plan is for this church to launch for the public in October. On a personal note, let me say thanks for your continued enthusiasm and support. As God continues to draw more folks to our church, you continue to welcome them and help get them connected at FBC. Keep up the good work! VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Sun - Thur, June 9 - 13 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm for entering K in the fall - completed 6th gd REGISTER ONLINE: fbcfirstkids.com

As we move into summer, two things come to mind. One is how busy things get this time of year. Vacation Bible School is just around the corner. Kathy and I want to express our thanks to Bro. Troy and the whole church for allowing us to be away on Sunday to attend the baptism of our middle granddaughter, Kourtney Melton. Her dad, Todd Melton, the grandson of our own Eloise Melton is Minister of Music at their church, Riverbend Baptist in Fulshear. He performed her baptism Sunday morning. It was a great testimony to the working of God in the life of a precious little girl. Praise the LORD.

We have finalized plans for FBC-U for Sunday nights this Summer. This year we are working our way sequentially through the Bible. We hope to develop a better understanding of how the different parts of the Bible fit together to make a whole. Bro. Troy and I will do a few of the sessions, but we also have some outstanding Bible teachers who will be coming Sunday by Sunday. The teachers include Dr. Malcom Bane, Dr. Todd Still, Dr. Andy Arterbury, Dr. Ron Cook, Dr. Dennis Tucker, Dr. Steve Oberhelman, and Dr. Bill Muske. Our first session will be at 6:00 on June 2 on The Creation led by Bro. Troy in the Fellowship Hall. Be sure to attend each session. Be sure to get your ice cream freezer out and cleaned up before the 26th. Our annual Homemade Ice Cream & Pie social will again be a fun evening.
