PRAYER CONCERNS

Brianna Perry is scheduled for gall bladder surgery on Wednesday, August 2nd. Please keep her in your prayers.

Tim Barton, Joe Akins roommate, is in the hospital at OU Medical with blood clots in his lungs. Please pray for God’s blessing on him and the hospital staff taking care of him. Lois Carter needed to go to the Shawnee Emergency room last week for pain with her gall bladder. She will have an EEG on Tuesday, August 1st and then consult with a surgeon.

FAMILY NEWS

God is so good. We continue to see God’s blessings in

our church family. Many who were sick have recovered

or have improved significantly. As always let’s continue

to pray without ceasing. Our VBS is here. We will

kick-off our Vacation Bible School this Monday, the 7th

and finish up Thursday, the 10th from 6:30 to 8:00. We

will also have our community ice cream social and

school supply giveaway in the park Friday, the 11th

from 6:30 to 8:00. We are also having a Parenting

Workshop during our VBS. Bob Whiddon from Hope

Harbor will lead the workshop. Please be in prayer for

this and invite all the people you know that have kids.

We want to see a great turn out for the workshop as

well as our VBS and Community ice cream social. We

have postcard sized handouts at all the doors for you

to invite your neighbors, family, and friends. On these

cards are the important details for our VBS and our

Parenting workshop. Please take advantage of this

opportunity to reach out to your neighbors, family, and

friends. Pray for God’s blessings on all our efforts to

teach His word and show His love. God bless our

church family as we work to glorify God.

I’m Only Human

Alright, admit it. You’ve probably said this at one time

or another in your life; “I’m only human.” What does

this mean exactly and why do we say it? We typically

say it when we’ve made a mistake. When we broke

something, forgot something, or hurt someone’s

feelings. It’s true, there’s a certain frailty or weakness

in our humanity. Is there a way for us to overcome the

weakness of our humanity? The Word of God says;

“Through these he has given us his very great and

precious promises, so that through them you may

participate in the divine nature and escape the

corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

2 Peter 1:4 NIV

You and I, through Jesus Christ can escape the corruption

and participate in the divine nature. What does that mean

exactly? Let’s get together this Sunday and study together

why we’re more than mere humans in Christ.

VBS WORKDAYS

We have two VBS workdays scheduled,

Tuesday, August 1st from 9:00 AM to

noon and from 6:00 to 9:00 PM; and

then on Saturday, August 5th from 9:00

AM until whenever it is finished or you want to go

home. Workers are needed to cut out pictures, make

tissue flowers, prepare school supply bags and help

decorate. Please see Denise Beard, Mary Kelly or Rita

Romberg if you have any questions.

be here Monday through Thursday, August 7th to

10th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with Biblical insights

on becoming better parents, and even grandparents.

Please make a point to be here even if you do not

have children attending VBS. This will be a very

uplifting and encouraging workshop.
