Maintenance Tip of the Month HOLIDAY SEASON LIGHTS

On behalf of Able Services we would like to extend to you and your family a Wonderful Holiday Season.

Follow some Safety Tips when you put up your lights. Holiday Lights are safety tested by either UL or ETL laboratories and their initials / logo should be noted on the packaging. Try to use the cooler-burning "mini" or "LED" lights as opposed to the traditional larger bulbs. Use only lights that have fuses in the plugs. Inspect each set of Holiday Lights: old or new for both damages and proper operation. Do not use any set that has cracked or broken sockets, frayed or bare wires, or loose connections. Remember to replace burned out bulbs promptly with bulbs of the same wattage. Never pull on a string of Holiday Lights as it can stress the cord and that can lead to fraying. Use extension cords properly and utilize power strips with an overload protector to add an extra layer of electrical protection. Never hang Holiday Lights on anything metal. A metal tree or ornament can potentially become charged with electricity and could possibly create a shock hazard to someone. The tree / ornament can also short out your Holiday Lights and could potentially cause a fire. Always turn off all Holiday Lights in your unit when you are not at home as an added safety precaution.
