neo-thriftwhile normcore hit the streets across the world a little while ago, for parisians, awkward and daggy silhouettes, neo thrift looks and no-fit styles took a little while to get used to. This season, the look is well and truly embraced. as brands craft contemporary versions of thrift, the shabbiness of used clothing is refined, seen in retro souvenir print T-shirts, reimagined cotton picnic-style prints, and ‘mom’ jeans of the 1990s - emphasised with a high-waist, stonewash denim and a tapered fit. Low-key basics are staple pieces: think T-shirts, crop tops and elasticised shorts - the latter linking in an active accent via sneakers and tennis socks or Teva sandals. Girls look to nonchalant styling with inside-out T-shirts, socks with sliders and baggy T-shirts and jeans. Meanwhile, guys don a basic T-shirt with a touch of jewellery reflecting the shift to gender-less dressing.

plain joe et janeThe French capital knows a thing or two about simple statement dressing. Forgetting sugary hues and vibrant prints and even eschewing anything too sharp and crisp, these guys are going for the most relaxed and simple cut-and-sew basics. a hint of slouch factor is incorporated, yet looks are kept sophisticated in mid-tone hues of lilac, camel, ecru and muted blues. premium materials (think linen, leather and selvedge denim) undercut the absence of details, retaining this season’s relaxed modern aesthetic. Monochrome and tonal dressing create an idea of uniformity and rebellion against the summer heat. a special mention goes out to the following: laser-cut geometrics on blouses, active footwear and girls in voluminous trousers and culottes.
