In September, UCA held its Annual Business
Meeting to elect Directors and Officers. The
event was at Venuti’s in Addison and fea-
tured Art Beat Live to raise money for
UCA’s scholarship fund. In addition the
50/50 raffle funds were donated to support
the Salvation Army’s relief effort in Florida
from Hurricane Irma. It was a great evening
of networking for those in attendance along
with the presentation of awards and conduct-
ing of association business. Thanks to Tom
Zubik, Matt Horn and Frank Lollino for their
service to the association as Directors. Wel-
come to new Directors Michael Quaranta,
Todd Larsen and Ted Memmoli.
In August UCA Director Gulzar Singh gra-
ciously hosted a fundraiser for Congressman
Raja Krishnamoorthi from Illinois’ 8th dis-
trict. There were over 50 UCA members and
guests that joined Gulzar at his Chicago of-
fice on a beautiful evening. The evening was
an opportunity for UCA and members to dis-
cuss our priorities for infrastructure funding
and other issues of concern in Illinois and the
nation. Thanks to Gulzar, the Singh family
and Pan-Oceanic Engineering employees for
providing a great evening. Thank you to all
those who made personal contributions to
meet the fund raising goals of the evening as
well as taking the time to participate.
It is never too early to consider attending
UCA’s Annual Convention in January of
2018, on the beautiful island of Hawaii at the
Mauna Lani Bay
Hotel & Bunga-
lows on the Kohala
Coast. This past
year was my first
convention and my
wife and I will be
attending in 2018
as well. It is an
excellent oppor-
tunity to network
with industry peers and associates along with
beneficial educational sessions presented by
UCA members. With the hurricanes wreak-
ing havoc on the Texas and Florida Coasts
along with the Caribbean this is a great op-
portunity for those wanting a warm getaway
from the cold Chicago winter. If you are
unable to attend please consider sponsoring.
The sooner you sponsor the longer you re-
ceive the benefit of your company name be-
ing advertised!
As always, please use UCA’s website and
other electronic media as a resource. UCA
staff would be happy to assist with any ques-
tions or if you need your login information
for the website.
Sincerely,
Nick Neri

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT, INC. is a pri-
vately owned minority business that started
in Southern California over 20 years ago. It’s
co-owned by brothers Chris and Jonathan
Spano. Traffic Management, Inc. started
with humble beginnings in the garage of
their grandmother with just a handful of
employees.
The company was largely run by CEO Chris
Spano, but when the recession hit he was
joined by his brother, Jon. Together they
brought a steady hand to the business
through the economic downturn of 2007.
They thrived in an environment that caused
many larger company to fall, but they built a
strong, solid foundation and when the storm
was over, they were ready.
Today, the company employs over 900 peo-
ple in twenty-two offices. It opened its first
Great Lakes office in Detroit, MI in 2007
and the Chicago location in late 2015.
The company continues to focus on building
a unique infrastructure that creates the future
of traffic management and safety. “We are
now one of the largest organically grown
traffic management companies”, said Jon
Spano. “We strive to be the best turn-key
traffic control safety company. Expansion
via acquisitions or green field is in TMI’s
future plan”.
