ROTARY VULCANIZATIONMost manufacturers utilize a step-cure process which vulcanizes belts in sections. This process is easier but can produce overlapping cured sections that can cause performance issues and failures.

OPTIBELT’s rotary vulcanization continually rotates the belt as it is being cured. This has the following benefits:

• Smooth profile side-walls for superior sheave contact

• Consistent cured rubber improves performance and durability

• No molds needed for v-belt production 47” and above

LENGTH TOLERANCESSingle v-belts of the same length will vary during manufacturing. This is an issue when running multiple v-belts on one drive. Industry matched-set length tolerances were established to identify v-belts with closer tolerances. That meant operations had to track sets of single v-belt matched-sets to ensure proper tension.

OPTIBELT established a higher manufacturing standard called S=C PLUS or Set-Constant. Every S-C Plus labeled v-belt is much closer to equal lengths than any matched-set regardless of the date manufactured. Any drive running multiple single v-belts will run more efficiently simply by using Optibelt S=C PLUS v-belts.

x2 Drives running 2 single v-belts (on average) will run 2-5% more efficiently using OPTIBELT S=C PLUS v-belts.

x4 Drives running 4 single v-belts (on average) will run 4-8% more efficiently using OPTIBELT S=C PLUS v-belts.

INDUSTRY: FOOD SERVICEAPPLICATION: EXHAUST FANPRODUCT: HVAC POWERA well-established Chicago restaurant location was having issues with one of their exhaust fans. The unit was positioned in the heat stream of the exhaust plenum produced from the kitchens cooking units. Ever since the exhaust fan was installed, the average belt life was only 3 to 4 weeks.

INDUSTRY: HOTEL & HOSPITALITYAPPLICATION: AIR HANDLER (AHU)PRODUCT: RED POWERA casino was experiencing frequent belt failures on their air handlers because the maintenance staff was not able to re-tension them as needed because of difficulties accessing the drive. Over time belts were stretching, losing tension, and failing. With over 60 AHUs the customer was looking for a way to reduce maintenance time and free up their workers for other service.

Optibelt’s RED POWER belts were substituted to two different configuration drives and have been running without issue for 4 years, In addition RED POWER eliminated the scheduled re-tensioning maintenance.

INDUSTRY: MANUFACTURINGAPPLICATION: AIR HANDLER (AHU)PRODUCT: RED POWERA plant for one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the world was looking to improve durability, and energy savings at their facility. As part of this effort several v-belt manufacturers were tested on HVAC applications throughout the plant. The units ran continuously for six months with energy consumption comparisons being recorded.
