Nikola Uzunovskiʼs works show clear conceptual origins in the extreme reduction of expressive methods and central role of verbal language. Nevertheless, we are not dealing here with the classic refl ection of art on itself because Uzunovski concentrates more on the surrounding environment, the world of natural and psychological phenomena, inviting the spectator to sharpen his own perception and gain a greater awareness of reality. Although seemingly limited to a caption, ʻA Change in the Air Changes Everythingʼ (2004) lists among the materials in the work the air in the exhibition space, thus transforming the air visitors breathe and feel into an integral part of the work. The piece recalls the theory of the ʻbutterfl y eff ectʼ which states that the smallest change in one part of the globe can upset the balance in another faraway place or even the entire planet. Uzunovski limits himself to pointing a fi nger at the phenomena, to bringing it into the spectatorʼs consciousness. Irene Calderoni

My Sunshine is a utopian project, suspended between art and science, visionary ideas and social issues, poetry and hyper technology. Its aim is to produce a fl ying object that refl ects sunlight to a specifi c area of Earth in order to appear as the Sun itself. A broader version of My Sunshine contemplates the production of several copies of the aerostat, which shall create the eff ect of multiple suns in the sky.

My Sunshine was initiated in Trieste, Italy, where it received the European Emerging Artist Award, where a research in collaboration with the International Center for Theoretical Physics was made on the feasibility of the project. Later in the residency Pollinaria in Abruzzi, Italy, My Sunshine developed in a further phase, where the fi rst prototype model was realized. In the winter of 2009 a test session was realized in Rovaniemi in collaboration with the University of Lapland.

Finnish production company Lumination Films is making a documentary about the project: its social and emotional eff ects on the people involved, and the creative process.

The research and the fl ying prototype will be presented in mobile laboratory as a part of the Macedonian Pavilion at the 53rd Venice Biennale of Arts. After the biennale the laboratory and the aerostat will be transferred to Lapland for further development.
