WHAT REALLY IS THE
PERFORMANCE INDEX OF APPLICANTS
TO NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES?
Candidates of Universities that scored at least 200 of 400 marks
ranges from 78.46% (PAN-ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY) and 1.58%
(KEBBI STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY).

Federal and State Universities averages below 50% while Private Universities
achieved 57%. We can therefore conclude that Private Universities attracts
more intelligent candidates than Federal and State Universities.
IN FACT, IT IS REPORTED THAT GRADUATES FROM PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES
PERFORMS BETTER THAN OTHER GRADUATES FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL SPECIAL
SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT (PRESSID)
THE PROBLEM WITH NIGERIA STUDENTS IS NOT THE
CARRYING CAPACITY OF OUR UNIVERSITIES, IT IS
THE INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY OF OUR APPLICANTS!
SO, EVEN IF YOU INCREASE THE CARRYING
CAPACITY OF OUR UNIVERSITIES; ON MERIT, THERE
WON’T BE ENOUGH CANDIDATES TO ADMIT!
THEREFORE, THE GOVERNMENT (AT ALL LEVELS),
AND PARENTS HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE
ALL THAT IT REQUIRES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF
THE EDUCATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS!
