Hello dear reader,!(Formatters note - was greatly surprised not seeing Greeeeeetings!)Welcome to the first issue of the Uth Chronicle for 2009 (although it covers events of 2008)! Before we plungestraight into the New Year, theres still time left to look over the events of the past three months and reflecthow God has blessed us all richly through things like the Reformation Play, the YF camp and, of course,Christmas. Hopefully, all of us have grown over the past year, not just physically, but spiritually as well.

With January almost halfway gone, it is a good time for us to consider how we intend to spend the rest of theyear. How have we lived these past two weeks of 2009? Have the resolutions we made begun to look difficult,or impossible to keep? Is our desire to read the Bible daily growing fainter and fainter? Fret not Philippians4:13 says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Simply recommit yourself to God and

rely solely on Him to help us through our struggles.

This issues theme is about sin (The Blackness of Darkness, taken from Jude 1:13), and Lingkang writes onthe seriousness of it, and the need for us to constantly strive against it.

We also hear from dear William, who has finally been freed from the clutches of National Service (:P), on whatits like to emerge from the darkness.

Also inside is a little survey we did on what some of the YFers think darkness looks/tastes/feels/etc. like,which gave us some creative answers. ;)

Weve also decided to add in a new section titled Retrospect, where adults write back to their teenage

selves, dispensing godly advice and wisdom that comes with age to their past personas. Hopefully, we canrelate to some of the trials they went through, and benefit from their retrospection. Dn Eric has penned thevery first Retrospect article for this issue.

What is Your Perspective Towards Sin?

Text: Revelations 15:1-8

The world todaytreats sin verylightly. It is some-thing sought afterby the people ofthe world, desiredas the luxuries andpleasures of life.

The love of money is the motto of our society

today, as everyone seeks after wealth, in order toenjoy the pleasures of this life in this current age.Seldom do people actually stop to think, andconsider their ways. God is totally left out in theequation of their thoughts, for self-indulgenceand self-gratication is what is most importantto them.

Sadly, Christians are also being swept along bythese worldly mindsets as well. Although we arecalled to be apart from the world, and sanctied

unto Christ, we too have a similar desire for luxu-ries, and little thought is given to the seriousnessof sin. Because of the worldly inuences allaround us, our consciences have been seared,and our standards lowered so much, that we arehardly sensitive to sin anymore.

As the world continues on its moral degradation,a downward spiral of more and more corruptbehaviour, we know that the end is near. Just asPaul described of the end times, we see in our

society that evil men and seducers shall waxworse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. (2

Tim 3:13) Christ also prophesied, that as the daysof Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son ofman be. For as in the days that were before theood they were eating and drinking, marrying andgiving in marriage, until the day that Noah enteredinto the ark, And knew not until the ood came,and took them all away; so shall also the coming ofthe Son of man be. (Mat 24:37-39).

As we realize that the day of the Lord is fast ap-proaching, the question that we have to ask our-selves is this: What is our perspective with regardto sin? Are we like the people of the world whotake sin so lightly, and so readily indulge in car-nal pleasures of the world? Or will we desire tobe like Christ, to be holy and eschew evil?

When we turn to the book of Revelation, andread of all the ery judgments that will comefrom God upon this world because of sin, we

should and must be lled with a great sense offear for God, and a realization of the seriousnessof sin.

In Revelation chapter 15, we see the results ofsin, for it is a prelude to the great vial of judg-ments that will come from God upon this sinfulworld in the second half of the tribulation. As westudy this passage, we will realize certain aspectsof sin that we have to understand for ourselves,and in so doing, hate sin for what it is, and desire

a sanctied life.

Realize that it triggers the Wrath of God

(v.1)(1) And I saw another sign in heaven, great andmarvelous, seven angels having the seven last

plagues; for in them islled up the wrath of God.

First, we realize that by the time the Lord JesusChrist returns, and brings about the seven yearsof tribulation upon the Earth, it is because thewrath of God is lled. It is as if the sin of man hasbeen accumulating throughout the history oftime, and nally, the longsuering of God hadreached its limit, and He will now pour down Hiswrath upon man through the series of plaguesthat are about to be released.

The rst thing about sin we must realize is that ittriggers the wrath of God. Although God is a lov-ing God, He is also a Holy God who hates sin.Every time we commit even the smallest of sin, itevokes the wrath and anger of God. Do not thinkthat God will always be gracious and merciful toforgive, and therefore we can continue in a carnallife of sin and pleasure. Often times we are soippant in our lives, and think that Well, I knowthis is wrong for me to do it, but I am sure thatGod understands. God may continue to forgive

each sin that we commit, but at the same time,these sins ll the wrath of God.

The world continues to sin, and will one day bejudged by God. As believers, will we add to thissin, and continue in the moral degradation of theworld? Our purpose here is to be the salt and lightof the world a sanctifying inuence, and not toadd to the corruption of it. Our sins evoke thewrath of God, and therefore our perspective to itis that we must do all we can to avoid sin, for fear

of adding to Gods anger and hot displeasure.

Realize that it must be averted, even till

Death (v. 2)(2) And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled withre: and them that had gotten the victory over thebeast, and over his image, and over his mark, andover the number of his name, stand on the sea ofglass, having the harps of God.

Second, we can do well to learn from the testi-mony of the tribulation saints mentioned here.John was given a vision of a multitude of peo-

ple who were singing the songs in praise and

worship to God. The description given is in-

structional, for they were those who had stood

against the Antichrist and the False Prophet,

and had come out victorious. They were faith-

ful, refusing the mark of the beast, and faithful

even until death.

This is the same kind of aversion that we musthave towards sin and compromise with the world.In the time of the tribulation, the Antichrist wouldbe the one who has dominion over the world. Hewill be empowered by Satan, and is the epitomeof evil. A saint living in that time would face muchdiculty, for he would have to refuse to take onthe mark of the beast, and because of that hewould not be able to buy and sell (Rev 13:7), andwould be harshly persecuted, even unto deathbecause of his deance towards the Antichrist(Rev 13:7-10).

Yet they will continue to persevere. They will

refuse to be part of the empire of the Antichrist,

and be therefore slain for the word of God, and

for the testimony which they held (Rev 6:9). This,

the Bible says, is their victory. Because they

stood against sin and prevailed, the Bible re-

cords them as winners, even though they hadlost their lives in the process.

Do we have the same moral courage in our cur-

rent day and age? The Antichrist had not yet

come, and to stand up for our faith will not

bring about such harsh persecutions or eco-

nomic sanctions. Yet we willingly sell ourselves

to the world, to engage in all its carnal pleas-

ures, and desire to live just like any one of them.

Although we do not take the mark of the Anti-christ, we are held sway under the dominion of

the many (small-letter) antichrists that are al-

ready around us.

Realize that the love of the world and the love

for sin must be averted, even if it means death.

We must do all that we can to ensure that our

lives are not under the dominion of the prince

of this world and the god of this world. We must

hate sin for what it is, and do all we can to sepa-rate ourselves from the world, and unto Christ.

This is the testimony of the tribulation saints,

and is much worthy for our emulation.

Realize that it is Serious, because of the

Justice and Holiness of God (v. 3-4)(3) And they sing the song of Moses the servant ofGod, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great andmarvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; justand true are thy ways, thou King of saints. (4) Whoshall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name forthou only art holy: for all nations shall come andworship before thee; for thy judgments are mademanifest.

Third, from the content of their songs, we can re-alize that through their exultation of the acts ofGod, that sin is indeed serious, because of thevery nature of God. Realize that these are saintswho have experienced the harsh conditions ofthe tribulation for themselves. They have gonethrough the seven trumpet judgments and alsothe seven seals. They have experienced the ca-lamities described in Rev 6, 8 and 9, where thewhole world was desolated, with all the water asblood, where wars, famines, economic turmoil,

darkness rule. And yet they can then declare thatgreat and marvellous are thy works, and just andtrue are thy ways. They acknowledge the greatpower and might of God, and that all he does isindeed justied.

They could have this perspective because theyknow the seriousness of sin, and that God willjudge sin for what it is, because of His justice, andholiness. They were therefore able to declare to

God that just and true are thy ways, and thouonly art holy. Remember that these were peoplewho were not Christians prior to the rapture, and

were so-called left behind after the coming ofChrist in the air. They are men and women whohad indulged in the pleasures of this world, withno fear or thought of the coming of Christ. Theyare carnal men who once loved sin, and hatedGod.

But because of what they experienced during thetribulation, they realized and understood theirdepravity, and also their need for Christ. Thus theywere converted, martyred for their faith, and nowstand in heaven praising God. To them, they trulyunderstand what it means to face the justice ofGod, and that only He is holy, and only He is ableto judge sinners.

We too must realize and understand the serious-

ness of sin, and that it is because God is just, trueand holy. It is because of the very intrinsic natureof God, that sin is so detestable to Him. What Hetherefore does in response to sin is very justi-able, and cannot be questioned by sinful men.Our responsibility is therefore to view sin in thesame way is God, to hate it, and do all we can toavoid it.

Realize that it will bring about the Great

Tribulation (v. 5-8)(5) And after that I looked, and, behold, the tem-

ple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven

was opened: (6) And the seven angels came out of

the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in

pure and white linen, and having their breasts

girded with golden girdles. (7) And one of the four

beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden

vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth forever

and ever. (8) And the temple was lled with

smoke from the glory of God, and from his power;and no man was able to enter into the temple, till

the seven plagues of the seven angels were ful-

lled.

Finally, the time had come for God to judge sin-

ners once and for all, and unleash His wrath

upon them. The seven angels having the seven

plagues in verse one who bore the wrath of

God will now be sent out from heaven to earth,

that Gods glory and power be unveiled. Theywill come out from the temple of the taberna-

cle, the Holy of Holies, in which is the ark of the

covenant and the ten commandments. This rep-

resents the fact that men have sinned and gone

against the moral law of God. They will be

dressed in pure white, symbolising the holiness

of God and of the judgment that they bear. The

golden girdles would represent the authority ofChrist in which they would come, being sent by

the King of Kings, and the great judge. This

judgment and tribulation that will come will be

a direct response to sin, because of the holiness

of God, with the authority of Christ, and will be

based on Gods Holy Word.

Vials full of the wrath of God will then be given

to them, and then sent forth to full the seven

plagues. This act will therefore be the nal waveof punishment that God will pour down upon

mankind, for the accumulated sins that they

had committed since the fall. Gods wrath will

truly be great, for the following chapter would

give a most vivid and chilling description of the

grievous and dreadful calamities that would be-

fall mankind. The whole world as we know it

will be destroyed, with a great number of the

inhabitants killed as well. No one will be spared,

and there will be no safe place to hide. This isthe Great Tribulation, a nal vindication of Gods

wrath, all because of the sins of man.

For us, we hope and pray that ourselves, and

our loved ones will have no part in this Great

Tribulation. Be very sure of your salvation, and

the fact that you will denitely be raptured at

the coming of the Lord. Realize also the severity

of sin, and that it is not something to be tried

with or dealt with lightly. Although God islongsuering for this present time, and does

not judge sin in such a direct and strong man-

ner, but yet the displeasure of God against sin is

still the same. God hates sin, and thus we

should as well.

Conclusion

This chapter and the rest of the book of Revela-

tions spell out for us the gravity and severity of

sin. Do not take sin lightly in your life. God is a

holy God who hates sin, and can and will re-

spond in a most just and powerful way.

Every time we sin, we evoke the wrath of God,

for He is a just and holy God who does not take

sin lightly. We are therefore to learn from the

saints that had come out of the tribulation, whohad truly understood their own depravity, and

the justice of God in dealing with sin. Realize

the nature of God is one that is directly op-

posed to sin, and therefore as children of God,

we too must likewise be adverse to all sin in our

lives.

Do not be like the world, and follow after the

mindset of the world. The world loves sin, and

hates God. We as believers are to hate theworld, hate sin, and love God. Do we? I pray that

we will all have a perspective to sin that reects

our understanding of God and His word, and

that we will ask the Lord to help us in our daily

struggle against sin, that we be more sensitive

towards sin, and hate it as God hates it.

I remember, when I was a student, that the temptation to cheat, lie, and copyhomework was tremendously great. Usually, by Gods grace, it was pretty easy toresist these temptations, simply because Im extremely kia-su (hokkien slang forscared to lose) and kia-si (hokkien slang for scared to die) when it came to com-pleting homework and assignments, especially for Math.

My greatest temptation was completing Chinese homework. I come from anEnglish-speaking background and Chinese Language is denitely my Achilles heel.

When I could barely understand the close passage in Mandarin, how could I ll-in-the-blanks? The comprehension was just nightmarish. I usually just copied the rstparagraph for the rst question and the second paragraph for the second question.So pathetic! The temptation to copy from my classmates so that my work will bemarked correct was extremely great. Unfortunately, when I yielded to temptationand copied my classmates homework, my sin always found me out. And the worstguilt that I always suered from, was knowing that my testimony at school had justbeen smeared by my own laziness.

Now, more than a decade later, as a teacher, I see the same thing occurring in myclasses. Since I teach Math, I come across many students who are just too lazy tocomplete their homework and copy from their classmates instead.

On ReformationI have always thought that the best decisions made are convicted ones. Indeed, I still believe they

are. Yet, whilst one makes convictions, one often forgets that the more important part of a convictioncomes after that: living it out. Now, do not get me wrong; convictions are important, after all, how can

you act upon convictions which you do not even have in the first place? Nonetheless, it would do us good

to remember, that the worth of ones conviction is based on whether we live it out. The 16th centuryReformation has come and gone. While we remember that it has helped us see light from the darkness

and spiritual tyranny of the Roman Catholic Church during that era, let us not forget the other impor-tant lesson we learn from Martin Luther: Personal Reformation living out ones convictions.

Whilst I was directing the Reformation Play, I remember one particularlydifficult scene Scene 3, or, the personal reformation scene where Luther became

convicted that the just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:38). Ivan and I had a difficult

time nailing this scene and we could not really get it right even until the actual dayof the play because it was really difficult to see the exact moment that personal

reformation or conviction set in for Martin Luther, or even the manner by which he

was convicted. The truth is, we never really knew, even after copious amounts ofresearch. Yet, it is evident from the rest of the play (and from history), that, though

it is difficult to see the exact moment conviction sets in, it is easy to see a convictedman or a man who acts upon his convictions. Convicted men are usually very visible

because they act upon biblical convictions which are always contrary to what the

world does. One does not even need to pause to remember Abraham, Joseph, Daniel,Martin Luther, Eric Liddell, amongst many others, and how easily all of them were singled out.

One question remains though: since it is that easy to spot a convicted man, have you spotted anyrecently? What about in the morning when you glance at your mirror? James notes that

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and

I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

(James 2:17-20)

One has nothing to live upon if one does not have convictions.Convictions are nothing if they are not being lived out. Even Luthernotes that a religion that gives nothing, costs nothing, and suffers

nothing, is worth nothing. Perhaps today will be a good day to take

stock of our own personal reformation and see if it is worth anythingat all.

They say that time

flies like an arrow...

In the blink of an eye, YF Camp 2008has come and gone. It seemed only like yesterday

that it was YF Camp 2007, where I was teasingly asked to become camp director for the 2008 one. And that

one year has flown by so quickly; even more so the one week from 8th

to 13th

December.

! The Making of a Man and a Woman of God in the 21st Century: Messages of the Major Prophets inContemporary Times YF Camp 2008s theme was a pretty long one and

perhaps the longest in YF history. In fact I am sure you all remember Grace

tripping over her words when trying to make announcements about the

camp after YF on Saturdays. We were delighted to have Bro. Paul Fergu-

son as our morning speaker to cover the camp theme. As for the night

messages, we were just as privileged to have Rev. Quek to speak on 1st

Timothy 4 A Living Testimony as a Youth. I would do no justice by trying

to summarise their messages in this short article, so if you did not get a

chance to listen any of these messages, I urge you to go grab a copy of

the recording of the messages!

! Besides the spiritually-enriching messages, one other thing thatimpacted the campers was the screening of the documentary video about

Eric Lidell. I had known about this guy since I was secondary school, but I

only knew him as the athlete who sacrificed his pet event in the Olympics

because the race was on a Sunday. He wanted to keep the Sabbath and

put God first, and despite all the criticism, stood firm and ran for another race which he had not trained for. He

got the gold for that race. What I saw in the video further impressed me his life was truly dedicated to God in

the minutest ways. And its my prayer that some of us would be like Eric Lidell in our dedication to serve God,

especially after this recent camp.

! Apart from spiritual and physical feeding, there were also other highlights in the !! camp. Treasure Hunt brought us around the Jurong East and Bukit Batok / Ti!! mah areas (and unfortunately for some, the Chua Chu Kang area as well). Track!! and Field brought us to West Coast Park, where we proceeded to have a BBQ !! at one of the pits. I am sure that everyone had much fun participating in those !! activities. Testimony night was one segment of the camp that I enjoyed leading. !! It was such an encouragement to hear of how God had worked in the lives of!! people around us, and how camp had been such a blessing to those who ! !! shared. It was with much regret that I had to end testimony night without having !! everyone to share, though.

" This camp was a little unusual, in the sense that besides having the longest-titled camp theme, we also had the biggest enrolment ever. The total number of full-

timers and part-timers was a whopping 70, and this is a

far cry from the normal YF attendance. I was not very sure

how we could manage such a huge number of campers,

but thank God that everything went so smoothly. In addi-

tion to the normal attendance of YFers, we were also

pleased to have brethren from the Teenz, from the Chinese congregation and even

from across the seas Australia. Truly it had been a great time of

fellowship among like-minded brethren, for despite our differences

in accents, in mother tongues or in whatever other differences; there is one bond that holds us

all tightly Jesus Christ.

! People had been asking me throughout camp whether I was stressed out. On thecontrary, I was feeling very much relaxed. Just before camp started, however, I was sharing

with Jon how inadequate I felt in leading a camp, and that was when I was reminded that it is

when I am weak then I am strong. For it is when I feel lacking that I must remember to rely and

trust on God even more. As such although I might have appeared to be stressed, I was very

much at ease because I knew God would truly help and guide the entire camp.

" It has truly been a joy serving the Lord as camp director, and there is very much to thank God for.Thank God for such an encouraging camp committee, who despite the various difficulties they had would still

get things done. Thank God for the various aunties who so lovingly prepared food for us while we were enjoy-

ing ourselves away at camp. Thank God for the various morning devotion speakers, and the night dorm fellow-

ship leaders. Thank God for wonderful group leaders who acceded to my requests to be group leaders at such

short notice This list can go down quite a fair bit more, because there truly is so much

to thank God for!

! This camp has truly been a blessing to me, and I pray that it has been a blessingto many others as well! Although it may seem a bit far away for now, maybe with another

blink of an eye, YF Camp 2009 will be here! And I know I will definitely be looking forward

to that one as well (:

Lord for a most wonderful camp

that He has blessed us with. Thecamp committee cannot take

credit for the blessings that He

so graciously showered upon us

above, to God be all glory!

The camp theme is one area

where God really showed Hisprovidence. Early on, the camp

committee struggled to come to

a decision as to what the camptheme might be. Relying on

human wisdom, the ideas gen-

erated were unsuitable and ul-

timately did not come to frui-

tion. But at our wits end lay

divine inspirationthe subject

of The Making of a Man or

Woman in the 21st Century

came to be the central theme ofour camp.

And how relevant it is in our

day and age! Calvary Pandan is

the largest church of its kind

in the world. We are the only

church left with a physical

church building that holds fast

to the perfect Word. The falling

away of the Christian faith now

is more evident than it ever has

been, and we are quite literallya peculiar people, surrounded

on all sides by foes that seek to

undo us. Thankfully we have a

God that is in control of all

things. We pray that this series

of messages will go a long way

in nurturing a new generation of

faithful men and women, will-

ing to give up their lives to holdthe sword and trowel.

Lord has seen it fit to turn our

feeblest attempts into blessings.

the secret to successful activi-

ties is NEVER in the brilliance

of the scheme, or the profi-

ciency of execution. Commit

everything to the Lord, honorHim, and He will grant success

as He sees fit!

All in all, thank God for a spiri-

tually uplifting experience. I can

to draw on the lessons

learnt. We are now at

least a month removed

from camp how is

your spiritual high? As

we head back into thesecular world, let not

the cares of the world

dampen your fervency for

Christ. Always remember to

pray, keep up your QT, and

dont forget Galatians 6:2 (and

the knot on your friends wrist)!

keep the lessons learnt close to

my heart. This church has gone

through much suffering, the

leaders bearing the brunt of it.

Am I ready to enter into His

service, knowing that miles of

fruitless suffering lie ahead?Surely the testimony of Jeremiah

will be oft brought to mind

when I face trials. Though the

reasons for the particular pre-

dicament may not be clear,

there can never be true loss in

faithful striving, only the oppor-

tunity to mature spiritually.

Thank the Lord for the faithful

preaching of His word!

Being surrounded by like-

minded brethren was also a

double blessing for me. It is al-

ways a joyous occasion when

one can spend so much qualitytime with true Christian breth-

ren, but seeing the YF being

warm and welcoming to the

new friends in our midst was as

unexpected as it was heart-

warming. That the YF wasnt its

cold cliquish self was ultimately

Gods doing, all praise and

honour to Him for warming thefellowship up.

Combined BP Youth Games Day

Thank God for such wonderful

events like the Combined BP Youth

Games Day held on Sat, 28th Dec

2008!

For the youths in Gethsemane,

such combined activities are very

new to us, and for most of us, the

Games Day would be the first time

meeting so many youths from

other like-minded BP churches.

Yet, we anticipated it and met at 7

a.m. at Pasir Ris MRT before

heading all the way to the other

end of Singapore! =)

And of course! The games were

superb! We thoroughly enjoyed

those meticulously planned games

by the Pandan youths. For the 17

of us from Gethsemane, some got

to know a new friend from another

church and for others, it was a

time to rekindle the friendship

candle! Hoho.

Thank God also for the short devo-

tion and a very apt reminder to

constantly pray for others.

Pray that the youths in Pandan,

Tengah, Truth, True Life, Berean,

Berith, Gethsemane, would be a

bunch of Christ-glorifying youths!

And the H2O attack was fun!

Once upon a time not so long ago, lived Girl in her ivory tower. ( Well it was not

exactly made of ivory, neither was it a tower, but for the purposes of this tale, lets

assume it was.) Anyway, so she lived in an ivory tower, had all the necessities of an

earthly life, and just started her final year in school.

She was always busy with school, and all the extra activities that she had, so much

so that she didnt seem to have time for God. A plethora of items clouded her

mind, and you could say that she was building her life. With every exam she took, or

event that she organised, her portfolio was padded, all ready for the next stage of

her life.

Then one day, a day like all the others, her mother demanded that she head to the

Doctors. There is something wrong with you, her mother declared, I can feel it in my

bones! The Girl grumbled, and dragged her feet, but finally did go and sit and sulk

at the Doctors table.

Now Doctors are a special breed, one that youll soon encounter, for they have

tools and magic kits, to prod, measure and discover, that a sneeze, cough, or snif-

fle, might not be what it seems but a deathly illness that you inadvertently might

have harboured. So, of course the Doctors found something (or our little tale would

have ended there), and it was no ordinary sniffle, it was the dreaded cancer, and

the deadliest of them all.

The Girl was caught by surprise, although she did suspect something was wrong, for

she had tummy aches, and funny rashes before. The Mother panicked, and like all

mothers would, she planned a flurry of activities, only this time its to make the Girl

well.

The Girl protested, and insisted on finishing school that year. You see I worked hard,

and planned so much, she cried and said. Surely theres some way youll let me

graduate! But the Doctors and Adults saw otherwise, and went full steam ahead.The Girl just sat, and slowly started to weep. Then one Adult stopped and said, Pa-

tience, little one, by Christmas, youll be well again.

Christmas was six months away. There were still a lot of uncertainties ahead. Never-

theless the Girl waited, for she knew that it was a small trial, given by God, to bring

her back again. She was straying, and thought she was in control, but God took her

plans, offered her a better one.

Sure enough, Christmas came, and God made the Girl well again. He even let hergo back to school, but much more than that, He brought her back to Him again.

Now every Christmas, the Girl would sit at that bench, and think of those days,

when she couldnt see beyond the very next day. She had waited till Christmas,

and there it was, God gave her one of the best-est Christmas present (but still, sec-

ond to His Son).

So this is to Christmas, and all its celebrations. May we ever be grateful for Gods

presents!

My Brethren LiesOver The Ocean

Hark! Its Celeste, all the way from the USA!

Life from Afar

Life in America has been a big difference to me. Especially living in thedorms; It has taught me to be very patient with whom I live with as Iusually dont know who Im going to live with, and to be really content

with what I have because I dont get to go out much so I have very lim-ited things in my room.

This semester, the Lord really focused on teaching me patience especiallywith people I work with. I work in the dishwash, which is where people

put their trays after they are done eating and there will be two moving belts,3 workers on each side. The first person will catch the silver, the second

person will catch the glasses, and the third person will bang the food off

the tray into a big trashcan. Well, theres this particular guy whom I workwith and we are usually doing glasses across from each other and what

really annoys me is that he always reaches over and grabs my glasses justwhen I am going to get it.

Sometimes he would grab it when Ive already grabbed it and then it drops

and sometimes it breaks onthe belt and I get the little stare that my su-pervisor gives as if it was my fault. Sometimes during the rush (when peo-ple start to leave at the same time), he still takes my sides glasses and hecant even keep up with his side and so sometimes I reach over and helphim, but he hits it off my fingers and grabs it instead.

And so I just stand there and my supervisor notices that he cant keep upwith his side, he/she asks me to help and only then he lets me help him.

And I have told him multiple times to stop taking my sides glasses andthat Im being paid for a reason but if hes not going to let me do it, Imight as well go back and do homework andhed stop for a while but after a couple ofminutes, hed start taking mine again and itjust annoys me. So Id just stay quiet andcontrol myself and the Lord just taught mea lot of patience and that I should leave it

in His hands. And now, he doesnt take mysides glasses or silver anymore.

The Lord has also taught me to trust Hima lot more because this semester has been really trying for me and I hadto made a lot of decisions which Im really bad at. Living in a different envi-ronment, away from my family, has also taught me to be more independentsince I would always depend on my parents and now, I have to do everythingby myself.I really thank the Lord for keeping me safe so far as I was having a lot ofdifficulties physically, and that He has brought me here in a Christianschool and to be able to meet people from around the world.

This issue, we hear from 3 teens who have been richly blessed, especially by the

December 08 YF Camp and fellowship with the older brothers and sisters in YF!

YF camp sure brings back memories It was the first time I was going to a YF-related ac-tivity since I am expiring soon from Teenz as a secondary 4 guy. The YF-ers were very

open and jovial, and the ice-breaker game was very fun. The meals were great too, cour-

tesy of hardworking, helpful aunties who took time off to prepare meals for such a big

group of youths. =D

Moreover, the messages about the ways that we could become young adults in the 21st

century by Bro Paul Ferguson and Rev Quek were edifying and made us really think about

our lives and how we have been spending them, for our own selves or for the Lord? The

messages also taught us about the importance of evangelizing to others, and to look to

the prophets in the Old Testament for good testimonies for the Lord.

The treasure hunt was super fun, it really helped the groups to know more about one an-

other and have fellowship with each other, through the tasks given, and while travelling

from one place to the next destination. The part where team members had to run on the

reflexology course was fun [for those watching? XD].

The dorm arrangement for the YF camp was very different from Teenz, as we could

choose which room to sleep in for the YF camp, whereas the arrangement of dorms were

already set for Teenz camps. Best of all, we get to wake up late! [Well, later than Teenz

camps, that is XD]. Dorm fellowships, devotions and sharings were very edifying for theguys as mostly everyone shared their experiences, especially William sharing about his

army life, This is my first YF camp after army hahaha.

The morning devotions were great too, the blessings of

being united as Christian brethren, Christians being pil-

grims on earth, the 3 R-s of Rejoicing, Removing sorrow

by Remembering the Creator, and about trusting in the

Lord. =)

A practice not done in Teenz camps is the superb sheepand shepherd system, it really helped us to get to know

each other better, maybe it is the cover of anonymity, or

being able to write instead of talk, that helped us to know more about our sheep and

shepherd. =)

I really look forward to the next YF camp!

Hello everyone reading this article!! I'm a teen going on to YF real soon. Bet you can already

guess how old I am now (13 - 16 la of course =P).

About Teenz: Teenz was great, fantastic and wonderful and I'm really gonna miss it =(. Espe-cially the camps and other stuff we Teenz often do, not forgetting all my "juniors" I'm gonnaleave behind =(.

About YF: I've always thought of YF people as being a bunch of really serious people in what-ever they do, quite the opposite of Teenz. Apparently, I was mistaken. It was only after the les-sons with some of the YF people that my opinion about them started to change. They reallyopened up to us and shared to us many things about them and taught us many things too. I still

vividly remember one of the lessons when one of them promoted the YF camp very very enthu-siastically. Wow! I was amazed he had so much fervour and energy.

More about YF: Hmmm... I wonder if the other YF people are like him. That would be so awk-ward and funny. There's gonna be so many new faces there just like back in sec 1, from beingthe "big brother" to being the "baby brother" again. Somehow I seem to like that feeling, itmakes me feel young. I really hope YF will be just as great as Teenz or even better! Anyways,just gonna write up till here Wishing all readers a very belated Merry Christmas!!

on the last saturday of the year...2008 drew to a close and CPYF held a Remembrance Night on the 27th of December,Saturday. About 30 YFers gathered by 6pm, singing songs to kick off the meeting.

I came unenthusiastically, prepared to offer tissues with a straight face and stay awakeby stuffing myself with snacks; but it turned out actually pretty interesting to hear whatimpacted people over the past year. Some shared of their difficult trials, and how Godalways provided in times of need. Others shared of the blessings they received over thepast year, and their new years resolutions. Whoever or whatever, there was spiritual les-sons to be gained from each and every sharing.
