From the Principal’s Desk

Well done and thank you to everyone involved in the lead up to and

on the day of our Kernewek Lowender involvement. The students did

a fantastic job in representing our school in the Furry Dance. Thank

you to parents/carers for supporting students to attend this event and

for dressing the students in traditional outfits (they all looked fabu-

lous!). A special thank you to Meredith Pridham for her efforts in training the students to deliver such a

great dance performance on the day.

Recently a number of students represented Bute Primary School at the District Athletics Day held at

Kadina Memorial School. The District Athletics day was held on Friday, 3rd

of May in Week 1. Below is a

list of the students who participated (Unfortunately, Will Trengove injured himself in the lead up to the

day and was unable to attend the event);

Angus Hewett – Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus

Charlie Krieg – 100m, 200m, High Jump

Pippa Krieg – 100m, 200m, Long Jump, Shot Put

Laura Green – 100m, 200m, Long Jump, Shot Put

The students competed hard all day and should be very proud of their efforts. Laura Green was selected

for the NYP Athletics Team to compete in Adelaide as she achieved a first place for Long Jump and

made the Relay team. Thank you to those parents who attended and transported students to and from

the venue.

District Cross Country

We also had a group of students who represented Bute Primary School at the District Cross Country

Run held at Moonta Area School. The District Cross Country day was held on Friday, 10th of May in

Week 2. Again, our students demonstrated their competitive spirits with some fantastic results

achieved on the day.

Will Trengove – 10 Year Old Boys (1st Place)

Pippa Krieg – 10 Year Old Girls (9th Place)

Laura Green – 11 Year Old Girls (3rd

Place)

Charlie Krieg – 12 Year Old Boys (11th Place)

Congratulations to Will Trengove and Laura Green for achieving selection for the NYP Cross Coun-

try Team to compete in Adelaide in June. Thank you to those parents who attended and transported

students to and from the venue.

The Resilience Project

The Resilience Project - WHAT DO THEY DO?

Through their schools programs, they inspire

school communities to practise the evidence

based strategies that build resilience and im-

prove mental health. This is achieved by:

INSPIRING STUDENTS

EMPOWERING TEACHERS

ENGAGING PARENTS

As part of this project Bute PS have received a

collection of teaching resources and student

journals to implement the project at our site.

Staff will also attend Professional Development

training to support this program. We have been

able to participate in this project thanks to fund-

ing from the Barunga West Council.

Bute Primary School in conjunction with the Preschool and Rural Care, will be showcasing some of the

amazing learning experiences in which our students participate, within eBooks published by an organisa-

tion called Jetsetter. The aim of Jetsetter is to show students in a positive way and to display their work in

a relevant and purposeful manner within the school community and outside the school boundaries.

Jetsetter puts together 8 eBooks over a 12 month period of student literature, art, technology etc. (short

stories, poems, art, coding). Jetsetter also offers students the opportunity to be interviewed on a variety of

subjects of the teacher’s choice. The Jetsetter eBooks are published TWICE a term and can be used by

teachers and students for a range of purposes. Jetsetter eBooks are sent directly to the Principal to use in

the school at their discretion; eJetsetters are not on the internet or Facebook!

At times Bute Primary School will submit photos that might depict children from the school. Please notify the school if you do not want your child(ren)’s photo to be used in Jetsetter publications.

Forest bathing is the practice of taking a leisurely walk in a forest for health benefits. The practice

originated in Japan where it is called shinrin-yoku (森林浴). Proven by scientists to benefit physi-

cal as well as mental health Shinrin-Yoku helps to lower heart rate, blood pressure, reduce stress hormone production, boost immunity and mood and improve overall feelings of wellbeing.

Community Notices

A BEAUT DAY AT BUTE—SUNDAY 6th OCTOBER, 2019

The Bute 2000 Onwards Progress Committee are looking forward to our 3rd annual Beaut Day in

Bute and are seeking names of Bute Community Clubs and individuals who wish to be involved in

the day. The previous 2 years have attracted a large number of

people to Bute and we hope to achieve that again this year.

We invite individuals and clubs to hold a garage sale to be held at

the individual homes or club sites. Alternatively Clubs may wish to

have a stall/trading table or some other fundraising function.

We will need your name and address by the 26th July, so that we

can compile maps and arrange advertising.

Please phone either Cheryl Sawley 88262210 or Judith Sutton

88262056 for further information and/pr to submit your garage sale

details.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Thankyou to everyone

for collecting stickers,

The students have been

sticking these onto the

posters and have filled

one and are hoping to fill

some more. We have

also been looking at

some items through the

microscope.

The whole school took part in the National Simultaneous story time on Wednesday 22nd May at

11.00am. They were one of 1,085,587 students and 9,890 locations. They met Al and Macca the

Alpaca and the junior primaries made masks and maracas.
