Things to consider:1. Location

-Can UTC export and import goods?-How would the geography impact the development of the company?

2. Communication-Is it easy to communicate with companies overseas?-Are there cell phone services in the area?

3. Economy-Are people in the area wealthy enough to purchase product?-Are the products needed in this area?

4. Competition-Is there competition in the area?

5. Transportation-Are there roads that can be easily travelled?-Are there railroads?

6. Military-Would our products benefit the military?

Page 6: UTC

Thailand- The major cities are

overpopulated

- There are already competitive companies

- Weather may hinder workdays

The hot and rainy months of the year would not benefit the company.

Page 7: UTC

Vietnam• Rough terrain

means business would be isolated

• Cell phone services aren't very good

• Not many people are wealthy

• Difficult to transport goods

Rough Terrain

Page 8: UTC

India• Monsoons occur in India in the

South• Natural hazards and it’s

geography would make it hard to have a business there

• There are some home phones, they have lots of public calling offices

• About 25% of the population is in debt

• Roads is rural areas get flooded regularly so it would be hard to travel

• The trains only connect major cities

Himalayas in the North

Page 9: UTC

The debt ratio in India.

Page 10: UTC

South Korea• Some parts don’t have

alliances with other nations

• Need government’s allowance for transportation

• Government denies communications with the rest of the world

Why We Chose China

Page 12: UTC

China

China is bordered by many bodies of water and products can be easily imported and exported.

Page 13: UTC

China Location• In the west of the country, there are vast varieties

of mountains and deserts.• The company will have to build on the eastern

coast of China.

Page 14: UTC

Location Cont.• Although it is crowded, the rivers provide

excellent ways of transportation, so we wouldn’t have to go through the busy streets.

• More businesses are starting to relocate in China because many countries have ties to China in terms of trading and are successful.

A crowded street in Hong Kong.

Page 15: UTC

Communication• Public telephones and e-mail are becoming more

popular• Telephones and cell phones are widely used• 859 million cell phones in use as of 2010 (most in the

world)• 294.383 million land lines

Page 16: UTC

Economy• Level of developing

country• Can build in a

wealthy area• Reduced Labor Costs

Our products would benefitChina’s ever-growing population.

Page 17: UTC

Competition• There is competition.• Would need to

develop relations with people to beat other companies

• Extensions of UTC are already in China

• One competition company is Otis

Page 18: UTC

Infrastructure• Infrastructure is the transportation systems that a

country has• Good railways and roads to transport goods• Ranked third in the world in terms of railways (86,000 Km)• Ranked 2nd in the world in terms of roadways (3,860,800

km)

Roads are advanced

Page 19: UTC

Military• Military can use aircraft systems and helicopters• Naval Aviation (Navy) and Airborne Forces use helicopters

regularly

Page 20: UTC

Cultural Consideration• Employees of UTC

will have to get used to multiple new things such as:• A new language• Different dialects

• Crowding• Similar to streets in

New York City and other American cities

• Measuring system• New writing System• Hundreds of

characters

Page 21: UTC

Cultural Consideration Cont.• New education system• Learn English, Math, and

Chinese• Have to take a test to

get into high school• New Currency• Yuan• Have to make currency

conversions
