Utah Olympic Park Bobsled & Skeleton School Park City, UT The Utah Olympic Park, will conduct two bobsled and skeleton schools. The dates are December 10-15, 2012 and February 18-23, 2013. UOP Skeleton School Eligibility Requirements Eligible Participants: Athletes, male and female, must be a minimum 14 years of age. The maximum number of athletes (male and female) admitted is 12. Requirements for Admission to Skeleton School: For Athletes (14 and older) 1. USBSF Athlete Membership- http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Bobsled-and-Skeleton-Federation/Membership/Sport-Membership s.aspx or National Governing Body Membership. 2. Good athletic skills and condition. 3. Physical-medical certificate attesting to the candidate’s suitability, from a medical standpoint to practice the sport of skeleton. The certificate must carry the full name and address of the doctor. 4. Adequate medical insurance coverage against accidents relative to the practice of skeleton that includes emergency room expenses, ambulance transport, hospital stays and third party liability. General UOP Bobsled and Skeleton School Information Entry Fees: Entry into the UOP Bobsled and Skeleton School is $600. Entry Deadline: December 7, 2012 and February 15, 2013 - Entries will be assessed on a first come first serve basis. Equipment: The Utah Olympic Park will provide bobsled and skeleton sleds, runners and helmets that meet DOT norms and standard safety requirements, elbow pads, and shoulder pads. YOU will need to bring clothes to slide in: Lower body-heavy spandex tights, sweats or track pants preferably with tapered legs. Upper body-outer layer sweatshirt that is somewhat abrasion resistant, without hood and not too baggy-basically clothes that can get damaged. Please bring a beanie, gloves, and track spikes (if you have some). Also, a warm jacket and pants for track walks. Sled Damage Deposit: The Utah Olympic Park has a $2,500 bobsled damage deposit, and $1,000 skeleton sled damage deposit for the duration of the school. Bobsled Head Coaches: Shauna Rohbock and Valerie Fleming Skeleton Head Coach: Lincoln Dewitt Arrival Information: (Park in the main parking lot at the UOP and proceed to the Museum) There will be a mandatory orientation for all participants at the Museum/Guest Services building at 4pm the first day of the scheduled school. Prior to any training, all participants need to check-in and sign required waivers, sled damage deposits, and complete paperwork. Following the orientation the coaching staff will allocate equipment and track walk with the participants. Housing / Transportation: Expense and reservations for housing and transportation are the responsibility of each participant. See below.
