ABSTRACT
This study appraises the World Bank f inancing on Agricultural Development
w i t h spec i f i c references to Kaduna and Katsina States Agr icu l tu ra l
Development Projects.
Established in 1985 , KADP which gave birth to KTARDA in 1987 as off-
shoot of Funtua Agricultural Project was established to increase agricultural
product iv i ty and to improve the standard of living of rural dwellers. The
study found that the end does not just i fy the means, that is, the amount
borrowed (externally) did not reflect the work done, largely due to neglect
on the part of government as a result of lack of proper planning and
supervision, as one of the attr ibutes of most World Bank projects in the
developing countries.
However, w i th little at tent ion, honest agreement and dedication, the World
Bank loans or any other external loans can be made to be useful and viable.
