Frequently Asked Questions

What Is PGP?

Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) is data encryption and decryption software that provides the forefront

in data security and private communications.

What is a private key?

A private key is your unique key used to decrypt your private email messages. No one has access

to your private key except you.

What is a public key?

When you communicate with another encrypted email, your device will automatically download

the email recipients’ public key from their organizations universal server. It is the public key that

is used to encrypt the email so that it can only be decrypted by the recipient’s private key.

Should I use BlackBerry Messenger, is it encrypted?

BlackBerry Messenger is not encrypted with PGP; we do not recommend using BlackBerry

Messenger since we cannot guarantee its security.

Why can’t I see my email?

If you have no email on your BlackBerry device, you have either accidently wiped your

smartphone or you have lost contact with the Enterprise Server.

I’m trying to activate my BlackBerry with the BES Server, why won’t it

connect?

You are either entering the activation details incorrectly or don’t have the correct BlackBerry

data plan, please contact technical support for further assistance.

Why don’t I have an internet browser on my phone?

Depending on the encryption package you purchased you may or may not have the Browser

enabled. The browser is deleted to protect you from triangulation and tracking software.

Why can my phone dial 9-1-1 (Emergency services)?

9-1-1 utilizes a separate analog network and is required by all cell phone carriers to be enabled.

Allowing the option to call 9-1-1 does not compromise the security of the phone.

What happens if I enter my password incorrectly five times?

Your BlackBerry will automatically perform a security wipe and you will lose all the information

that was stored on the device.

What happens if I lose or someone steals my phone? Is there a way to

remotely delete all my messages?

You can contact us at any time and we will issue a full security wipe and lock the device.

[email protected] or 1-866-473-5440

Why can’t I communicate with my friends encrypted BlackBerry?

This can happen for a variety of reasons. The BlackBerry they are using must have the

BlackBerry PGP Support package and there provider needs to have configured there servers

correctly to work with other companies. If you experience this problem please contact us directly

for more information.

If I don’t like my email address can I change it?

Because your encryption key is directly linked to your email you would need to wait until your

next renewal date to request a change.

Can I access my email from anything other than a BlackBerry device?

No, the only way to decrypt your emails and read them is with your unique private key. Since we

cannot store a duplicate of your private key you will only be able to decrypt your messages on

your BlackBerry device.

What countries does my BlackBerry work in?

Depending on which reseller you purchased your Encrypted BlackBerry from will have an effect

on which countries are supported. If you purchased the Encrypted BlackBerry from us please

contact our support team for a full list. Otherwise please contact the company you purchased

from.

What happens if I forget my password?

If you forget your password you will need to contact us. There will be a setup fee involved since

we will have to issue a full device wipe and issue new private and public keys for your email.

Why do you use a different SIM card provider than most companies?

The SIM card has no effect whatsoever to the security of the phone. We actually offer different

SIM cards depending on your area and the coverage you would like.

Revision Date: January 1, 2013 ©Myntex Inc.

Can the SIM card be traced?

The SIM card is not registered to a specific user so cannot be traced to any individual’s

encrypted phone.

Why do some companies remove the IMEI number from the phone?

It is pointless to remove the IMEI number from the BlackBerry as it doesn’t associate any

individual to the BlackBerry device.

Why is my Camera, GPS, Microphone, Phone Calls, SMS and Internet

disabled?

Depending on your encryption package this can vary. They are disabled for customers that want

the utmost in security features.

Why do my emails automatically delete after 24 hours?

Emails are automatically deleted off our server every 24 hours as an added security precaution.

Depending on your encryption package they may delete off of your BlackBerry device as well.

characters.

Note: If you enter the password incorrectly 5 times your phone and all of its contents will be
