Formation:
Remove the final –re from infinitive verb.
Add: -vo -vi -va -vamo -vate -vano
Four irregular verbs:

IL PASSATO PROSSIMO VS L’IMPERFETTO
Uses of the Passato Prossimo:
Single, completed events in the past:
Sono andato al mare la settimana scorsa.
Numbered completed events in the past:
Sono andato al mare tre volte durante l’estate.
--even when a number is only implied:
Quante volte sei andato al mare durante l’estate?
Uses of the imperfetto:
Habitual events in the past: Andavo al mare ogni estate.
Uncompleted or interrupted events in the past: Facevo i compiti a mezzanotte. Dormivo quando il telefono ha suonato.
Descriptions (physical characteristics, states of mind, location, time, weather, age, etc…) Lui era un bravo studente. Ieri faceva freddo e pioveva. Abitavamo a Venezia quando eravamo giovani.
