Agenda
Iowa TIER■ Iowa TIER was developed
to support Iowa schools’ use of an MTSS school improvement process.
■ Currently, Iowa TIER houses reading universal screening data and progress monitoring data for students in preschool through grades 6.
■ It is required that K-3 reading screening data are uploaded.
Questions Not Answers
■ MTSS is about asking questions to identify where resources need to be allocated.
■ MTSS is about both system improvement and supporting individual students.
■ The graphs used by various teams will depend on the question being asked.
Question: Is the Universal Tier Sufficient (for the learners in our building today)?
Purpose: Determine if the amount of resources currently focused on improving the universal tier (Iowa Core Implementation) is sufficient.
Question: Which learners need additional support?
Purpose:
■Determine which learners need additional support.
■This is related to progress monitoring and intervention requirements of Chapter 62.
Question: What was the overall effectiveness of the intervention?
Purpose:
■Determine the overall effectiveness of an intervention.
■It is recommended that at least 65% of learners in an intervention are successful.
Question: How effective is current instruction for the learner?Purpose:
■Determine the overall effectiveness of current instruction or intervention for an individual student.

Expand system to support other data components (e.g. behavior)
