Transcript of Using a Wire Jig to Make Jewelry Findings
Wire jigs can be used to make wire findings for your jewelry. You can find jigs in some craft stores or by searching online for "wire jig" or "thing-a-ma-jig".
Intro to Using a Wire Jig – By Sandra Draper
In addition to a base, jigs come with pegs of assorted sizes that can be set up to make a variety of shapes. Many jigs also have
small plastic sleeves that fit over the bottom of the pegs to hold them tight to the base while working with wire.
Usually, jigs come with some sample patterns. You can also find patterns online by searching "wire jig patterns".
It takes practice to work with wire and a jig. But once you've mastered the patterns supplied with your jig, you are limited by
only your imagination.
Your hand-made creations can be embellished with beads and crystals.
The wire findings you make on a jig can be incorporated into your finished pieces. The advantage of a jig versus freehand
wirework is the consistency you get by forming your wire around fixed-size pegs.
