What is a User Story?
A user story is a sentence or two that clearly and concisely describes a “work effort” whose end result will benefit the user. User stories make up the product backlog, which comprises all of the work efforts that need to be completed in order to release a meaningful product at the end of the sprint.
In English, all this means is “breaking big tasks into little tasks so they’re easier to manage and the product release is quicker.” This is a major departure from traditional use-case style requirements, which often represent horizontal slices of work. A user story is a vertical slice of work: from concept to potentially shippable product.
