Low battery warning

An acoustic signal gives you an early warning that thebattery is approaching exhaustion. You have usuallyat least 30 minutes to replace the battery. With veryhigh quality batteries, this reserve may be higher. Thehearing system will repeat the low battery warningapproximately every 30 minutes.

For optimal use of the batteries, we recommend you totest and estimate the reserve time individually whenyou start using your Naída hearing sytems.

Note:Please note that the battery consumption increaseswith regular use of the myPilot command center, iViewstatus viewer, the iCom communication interface oran FM receiver attached.

EasyPhone

The EasyPhone function enables your Naída* hearingsystem to automatically select your telephone programwhen the telephone handset is held close to your ear.An acoustic signal confirms the switching. Itautomatically returns to the previous hearing programwhen the telephone handset is removed from your ear.

Some telephones produce a magnetic field strong enoughto activate your EasyPhone function. Most types oftelephones require an additional magnet fixed on thereceiver to activate this function.

Fixing the EasyPhone magnetClean the telephone handsetthoroughly.Hold the telephone handset nearlyvertically, similarly to makinga telephone call. Hold the magnetnear to the “listening end” of yourtelephone handset and release it.The magnet will automatically flipto the correct side.

If you hold the telephonereceiver in your right handwhen making telephonecalls, position the magnet inthe upper right half of thereceiver. If you hold the telephonereceiver in your left handwhen making telephonecalls, position the magnetin the upper left half ofthe receiver.

Use the double-sided adhesivetape to stick the magnet tothe location described above.Do not cover the soundopenings of your handset.

Instead of holding the phoneagainst your ear canal hold theearpiece of the phone againstthe microphone, which is at thefront of your hearing system.

33

Use of EasyPhoneUse the telephone in a normal manner. An acousticsignal indicates the activation of the EasyPhoneprogram. At the beginning, you may need to move thehandset slightly to find the optimum position for areliable switching and comfortable hearing.

If necessary, move the magnet to another position onthe handset to increase your comfort of use.

Keep magnets out of reach of children and pets.If a magnet is swallowed, please seek the adviceof a medical practitioner. The magnet used to strengthen the magneticfield of your phone may affect some medicaldevices or electronic systems.Always keep the magnet (or the telephoneequipped with the magnet) at least 30 cm (12”)away from pacemakers, credit cards, floppy disksor other magnetically sensitive devices.Too high distortion during dialing or phoningmay mean that the phone receiver is stressed bythe magnet. To avoid any damage, please movethe magnet to another place on the telephonereceiver.

Maintenance

Wind and Weather Protector

Important: The three Wind and Weather Protectors areexclusive to Phonak hearing systems, designed toprotect the high-tech microphones and battery air inletfrom dust, humidity or water.

The life span of the Wind and Weather Protectorsshould be up to several months, depending on theenvironment (humidity, dust, perspiration, etc.). TheWind and Weather Protectors should not be cleanedbut replaced regularly.

Page 55: User Manual Naída SuperPower & UltraPower

55

Your hearing system should never be used withoutthe Wind and Weather Protectors. If not mountedproperly, the hearing system is not water resistant(see page 52).

The following care and maintenance tips will helpextend the life span and ensure the efficiency of yourprotectors:

Never wipe or clean the Wind and WeatherProtector – it may lose its special acoustic andprotection properties. The Wind and Weather Protector is made ofthree identical parts. Always replace all threeprotectors together.Hair spray, make-up, etc. may damage or clogthe Wind and Weather Protector. Remove yourhearing system before applying cosmetics.Avoid touching the Wind and Weather Protectorwhen you place an instrument on your ear orpress the program switch.

Page 56: User Manual Naída SuperPower & UltraPower

56

Maintenance

Important: Consult your hearing care professionalabout changing the Wind and Weather Protector if youexperience any of the following:

The hearing system sounds quieter than usual There is a reduction in sound quality Understanding in noise becomes more difficult It becomes more difficult to determine thedirection of sounds

After some experience, you will get to know when theWind and Weather Protector needs to be replaced. It isadvisable to have it replaced before the hearing systemperformance is affected.
