Overview of the Prototype
The Online Big Data Implementation System (e-BiGIS) is a web-based prototype application and shall
be used in decision making environment. The purpose of this prototype is to revisit the current state
of the big data analytics (BDA) implementation in the organization. The assessment is based on the
analytics hierarchy process (AHP) technique which is embedded in the decision making dashboard
features. The prototype shall produce a report which summarized the current state of the BDA
implementation and to be used to facilitate future strategic planning for the organization.
The users of e-BiGIS prototype shall involve the active participation from the BDA personnel that
include the BDA Manager and his/her team members. The team members shall include subject matter
experts (SMEs), data scientist, statistician, IT staff and others.
In using e-BiGIS, the BDA Manager shall responsible to create assessment task and criteria, invite the
team members and produce assessment report. Meanwhile, the team members shall responsible to
perform the assessment task and view the report.

Important*
This document explains how to use e-BiGIS application in conducting the big data assessment. It also
includes Appendix A – Sample of Assessment Reports, and Appendix B – The Big Data Manager’s Tasks
and Assessment Process Flow.

User Registration
1. Figure 1 presents the login page (left column) and frequently ask questions (FAQ) (right column).

2. Select the ‘Register? click here’ for new account registration (Figure 2). The new user is required to
fill ALL required information as in Figure 3. The new account shall be verify via email. After account
verification, user shall login into e-BiGIS using NRIC as username and password (minimum 8
characters). Meanwhile for existing user, the user shall proceed login into the system.

3. Upon successful login, user shall view the Introduction page as in Figure 4.

4. In the Introduction page for MANAGER, user shall have access to SIX (6) menus as in Table 1.

5. User shall view the list of registered assessment task as in Figure 5. Status Publish – ready for
assessment. Status Draft – assessment still pending. User shall add new member using the right top
blue button ‘Add New Assessment’ which shall lead to the ‘Add Assessment Task’ screen (Figure 6).

6. In Figure 6, user shall fill in ALL information as required. Manager have to decide to include
himself/herself in the assessment task. Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to include manager as the member in the
assessment task.

7. User shall complete the organizational background as shown in Figure 7. The ‘Next Step’ shall lead
to questions lists for selection (Figure 8).

8. User shall view a list of questions (Figure 8). User shall choose ALL questions or choose any 3 or
more sub-criteria. Then choose 3 or more questions from each sub-criteria. The ‘Next Step’ button
shall lead user to member selection as in Figure 9.

9. User shall view the registered member list (Figure 9). User shall add new member using the top
right blue button ‘Add New Member’ which shall lead to ‘Add New Member’ screen (Figure 10).

10. In Figure 10, user shall register a new member and provide the team member information (i.e.
full name, NRIC, active email address and status). Once submit, the member information will be
display in the ‘All Registered Member List” table in Figure 9.

11. For new assessment task which is still ‘Draft’ status (refer to Figure 5), user shall select team
member icon to add members. In Figure 11, Step 1 - user shall select team member from the
‘Member List’ table by clicking the BLUE button (+) in the action column. Step 2 - user also shall remove
member from the ‘Member Added List’ by clicking the RED button () in the action column (if need
to change member). Followed by Step 3 - user shall select ‘Next Step’ button to publish assessment
(Figure 12) after the “Member Added List’ is finalized.

12. Figure 12 presents the introduction page of the assessment form. User shall view the content of
the assessment form by clicking the ‘Next’ button (at the bottom left), then confirm the content of
the assessment form. Meanwhile, the ‘Publish Assessment’ button means the form is ready for
distribution and assessment, then user shall proceed to notify team members via email and this button
shall direct to Figure 13.

13. User shall edit the content of email (in the message box) before send to the team members (Figure
13). After editing the message, user shall select ‘Publish and Send Email’ button, the system shall notify
team members for their action (Figure 15).

14. User shall check the member’s status. If the status shows ‘Not Done’ as in Figure 14, meaning that
the member have not taken any action and user (the manager) cannot view the assessment report.
Therefore, user shall send email reminder to the members.

15. If the user include himself/herself in the assessment task (refer Figure 6), the user shall check the
assessment task in ‘My Task List’ as shown in Figure 15. User shall select action to begin the self-
assessment.

16. In the sub-menu ‘My History Task’, my history task list shall display as in Figure 16. User shall
retrieve history of assessment answers by clicking the action button.

17. User shall view the assessment report from sub-menu ‘View Result’ which describes the
‘Assessment Result List’ table as shown in Figure 17. Select to view Report #1 (Figure 21), Report
#2 (Figure 22), and Report #3 (Figure 23). And select print icon to view the summary report
(Report #4: Figure 24).

18. User shall edit profile (i.e. password) as in Figure 18.

19. User shall send an assessment report to decision maker as shown in Figure 24 (Appendix A –
Report #4). User shall select the ‘Email to Decision Maker’ and a pop-screen (Figure 19) will be display.
User shall complete the information and select ‘Send Email’ and a successful email sent message will
pop-up as in Figure 20.
