USER GUIDE FOR THE EDB PORTAL

1. Logon Procedure

1. When you access the EDB Intranet, the logon page as above will be shown. 2. Enter your EDB Portal username and the password then click the button “登入/Logon”.

3. You will gain access to the EDB Portal if both the username and the password are correct.



4. After successfully logged on the EDB Portal, you will be asked for your i-

Platform username and the password if Single Sign-On (SSO) is not yet enabled, enter your i-Platform username and the password then click the button “確定”

Note: To have Single Sign-On (SSO) to i-Platform enabled, you are required to change your i-Plaform password, which also synchronizes your EDB Portal password. To change i-Platform password, please refer to Section 4 – Change i-Platform Password.



5. Then, the EDB Intranet page will be shown.



2. Change EDB Portal Password The procedures of changing EDB Portal password and i-Platform password have been standardized. Please refer to section 4 – Change i-Platform Password.

3. Logout Procedure

1. You can logoff by closing all windows of your browser, including the EDB Intranet.



4. Change i-Platform Password

1. Logon to the i-Platform, then click the tab “設定” as shown above.

2. Then click the tab “密碼”, change your password as shown above.

3. Upon completion, you will be informed that your password has been changed successfully.



5. Logon Procedures for the non EDB Portal users

1. If you do not have a valid EDB Portal Account, which are mainly provided to Civil Servants for accessing personnel-related applications such as e-Leave and e-Payroll and for EDB staff accessing computer applications such as CDS, WebSCIM, SEMIS or WebTIMS, you may bypass the EDB Portal logon process by clicking “Access to EDB Intranet by non EDB Portal Users”.



2. Enter the i-Platform username and the password then click the button

“確定”.

Note: If the EDB Intranet is left idle for longer than the pre-defined period, the EDB Portal logon screen will be displayed. You are required to click “Access to EDB Intranet by non EDB Portal Users” again to bypass the EDB Portal logon process.



6. Common Questions 1. A “Security Alert” window always pops up when I access the Common Logon

Applications. What should I do?

Answer : If you click “View Certificate”, you will see a window like the following one.



In the example above, the Certificate Authority (CA) is “Intranet Server Certificate CA”. You need to install the corresponding certificates for this CA.



The steps for installation are as follows,

I. Run the following installation program http://host1.ccgo.hksarg/dpp/doc/cert_IE.exe from your web browser, “Internet Explorer”.

II. Click “Open” and the following window will pop up. It is important

that you should NOT press any key on the keyboard or do any mouse click because these actions could affect the installation program.

III. The installation will take around 1 minute. A message of “Installation Completed” will be shown and the “CCGO Utility” window will be closed automatically upon completion.



2. When I left i-Platform idle for some time, it went back to the logon page and required me logon again. What should I do?

Answer: If you leave the Portal system idle for longer than the pre-defined period, it is necessary for you to logon again in order to continue using i-Platform. Therefore, we suggest you to save the mail being edited as draft before you are going to leave the Portal system idle, so that you may edit the saved mail again even after session timeout.
