Introduction to ApplicationAccelerator for Oracle E-BusinessSuite

This chapter includes the following topic:

¨ Application Accelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite Overview, 1

Application Accelerator for Oracle E-Business SuiteOverview

Application accelerators provide solutions to common data integration issues in an enterprise. ApplicationAccelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite contains Oracle E-Business Suite demonstration mappings and dataobjects that you can import into the Model repository to use with Informatica Developer (the Developer tool) andInformatica Analyst (the Analyst tool).

For example, use the application accelerator to migrate metadata from Oracle E-Business Suite into the Modelrepository without consulting a database administrator. Developers can use the demonstration mappings and dataobjects from Oracle E-Business Suite to use metadata such as invoice metadata and collaborate with analysts in adata integration or data quality project.

After a developer imports Oracle E-Business Suite content into the Model repository, the developer can viewOracle E-Business Suite demonstration mappings, physical data objects, and logical data objects in the Developertool. The developer can run a mapping from the Developer tool or deploy it in an application to run it from thecommand line.

An analyst can view Oracle E-Business content as data objects in the Analyst tool. The analyst can use these dataobjects in profiles, scorecards, and mapping specifications.

Analysts and developers can view tags associated with the data objects and search for data objects by tag.

¨ Running Mappings, 4

Application Accelerator Content Import OverviewUse Informatica Developer to import Oracle E-Business Suite content into the Model repository. Before you importOracle E-Business Suite content, create connections to the Oracle E-Business Suite instance and to any relationalschema.

Informatica provides Application Accelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite in a .zip file that is available as adownload link with the installer. The .zip file includes an XML file that contains Oracle E-Business suite contentand sample script files to generate target tables and run a mapping from the command line.

After import, the developer can use the Oracle E-Business objects in a mapping. The developer can run samplescripts to generate target tables in a target database for the mapping. The developer can run the mapping withinthe Developer tool or use a sample script to deploy it in an application to run it at the command line.

Create ConnectionsBefore you import the XML file that contains the Oracle E-Business Suite content, create connections to theOracle E-Business Suite instance and to Oracle database tables. You generate the Oracle tables from script files.

The following table describes the connection information to create connections:

Connection Name Description

apps Connection to the Oracle E-Business Suite instance.

mm_target Connection to any Oracle database tables generated fromscript files. Use the mm_target for the connection name andenter the connection details for the database.

2

Use the following connection information to create the apps connection from an Oracle client:

user/pwd : apps/apps TNS Entry apps.informatica.com,apps = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.74.40.42)(PORT = 1523)) )(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = vis11510)))

Importing the Application Accelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite Content

Use the Developer tool to import the Application Accelerator for E-Business Suite content into the Model repository.

Verify that you have connections to the Oracle E-Business Suite instance and to the Oracle database tables.Verify that the Developer tool is connected to the Model repository where you want to import the acceleratorcontent.

1. On the machine that runs Informatica Developer, extract the content .zip file that contains the ApplicationAccelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite content.

2. In the Object Explorer, select the Model repository where you want to import the accelerator content.

3. Click File > Import.

4. In the Import dialog box, click Informatica > Import Object Metadata File (Advanced).

5. Click Next.

6. Click Browse and locate the tables.xml in the location where you unzipped the content file.

7. Click Open.

8. In the Source pane, select the Oracle EBiz project.

9. In the Target pane, select the folder or project in the Model repository.

10. Click Add Content to Target to import all objects.

11. Click Next.

The Developer tool summarizes the objects to be imported.

12. Click Finish.

Creating Sample Target TablesCreate target tables to run Oracle E-Business Suite demonstration mappings from the command line. Use asample script to create sample target tables in the mm_target connection.

Verify that you have an Oracle client and the mm_target connection to create sample target tables in an Oracledatabase.

1. Extract the CreateTargetTables.txt from the content .zip file.

2. Use the mm_target connection to connect to the Oracle client.

Importing the Application Accelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite Content 3

3. Copy each script and run the script from the command line.

Copy the scripts for the following sample tables to run from the command line:CREATE TABLE RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALLCREATE TABLE RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_LINES_ALLCREATE TABLE GL_DAILY_BALANCESCREATE TABLE GL_JE_HEADERSCREATE TABLE AP_AE_HEADERS_ALLCREATE TABLE AP_AE_LINES_ALLCREATE TABLE AP_INVOICES_ALLCREATE TABLE AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL

Running MappingsUse a sample script to run the Oracle E-Business Suite demonstration mappings from the command line. Whenyou use the script to run mappings from the command line, you may need to change the domain name and theapplication name in the command.

Verify that you have the mm_target connection to add mappings to target tables in an Oracle database.

1. In the Developer tool, create an application and add the mappings for the target table created in themm_target connection.

2. Deploy the application to the Data Integration Service.

3. Open a command line prompt and navigate to the Informatica server installation directory.

4. Copy the script from RunAllMappinsWindows.txt to run mappings from the command line to populate targettables.
