Available KDSS connects the front and rear stabilizer bars through a set of hydraulic lines. Under computer control, the stabilizer bar is adjusted for maximum effect on-road (for better stability) and minimum effect off-road (for better suspension articulation).

HAc and DAc

Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) and available Downhill Assist Control (DAC) help the driver maintain vehicle control when starting on an upgrade or when creeping down steep hills. Pathfinder has neither feature.

This available feature controls vehicle speed via the brake control system and engine output control. It reduces driver effort when negotiating challenging terrain that requires maximum speed control and driver concentration. Pathfinder has nothing like it.

torsen center differential

Pathfinder’s drive system is a slip-then-grip system that relies on rear-wheel-slip sensors to engage a clutch pack in the transfer case to move torque to the front wheels. A better solution is the available Torsen center differential, which can continuously adjust the torque split before slip occurs. This may give 4Runner an edge in low-traction conditions.
