• We have talked a lot about Hummingbird
• The emphasis has been on long tail key words• Using search keys in your videos and blog posts that answer questions
your customers have
• Updates to Hummingbird have increased the importance of Social search results
• Hummingbird is also Google’s official transition into semantic search, meaning a switch to trying to determine what someone is looking for, instead of only using the keywords typed into the search bar. In essence, Google is trying to determine a user’s intent.• Semantic search has a very social component in that Google search is attempting
to understand what a searcher wants so that it can answer queries meaningfully, not just with keyword dense content. Because Google wants to give the most relevant results, it uses some social measures to determine which content is the best and which writers are the most authoritative. Quality content by trusted sources is shared more often, making it more relevant to Google.
• With this knowledge in mind you need to make sure your social presence keeps you or makes you relevant in your area
• Facebook (profile and fan page)• LinkedIn • Google+• Youtube• Twitter• Pinterest
• Tell the same story on all of them
• Start with Facebook• Go to your profile and click your about tab
• Once you are in your about section select the Details about you option
• Click write some details about yourself
• This about section has 2 main purposes• Tells the story of who you are….give a summary of
Who you are, who you help, and How you help them• Use a keyword phrase for your main search criteria:

• People will seek out who you are (#1 button clicked on a website is the about me section)• Google will see the key phrase in your profile and begin seeing you as
an authority (helps with SEO for all things you author)
• Before you save changes
• In order for Google to see it you must change the setting to Public
• Do the same to the About section on your business page
• Scroll down and hover over about section, the edit option will appear on the top right
• Select Short Description first and use your keyword phrase as the short description. Like a title
• Then edit the long description
• Copy and paste the about from your profile• You can use the same about for all your profiles• Just make sure the first time it has the essential SEO you need to be
an authority
• Go to www.google.com and click where it has the + symbol and your name (sign into google is you don’t see this)
• Once you are in your Google+ account, click the drop down on the left
• Click Profile in the menu on the left
• Click the about tab
• In the story section, click edit
• Copy and paste your introduction (make sure the options say public)
• Make sure your entire about section in Google + is set• Each field is an indicator to Hummingbird, having them all filled
equals data rich and Hummingbird likes that for authority indication• The Links section is very special…allows you to tell Google what all the
websites you contribute to (including other social sites)• Pretty easy to set up your “contributor to”
• Click the edit button for the links section
• Go to Youtube • Click on My Channel on the left
• Click the about tab
• Hover over description area and edit will appear on the top right
• Copy and paste your about
• Go to twitter • Click on me on the top left
• Click on edit profile on the far right
• Twitter is a little different in that you are limited by a certain number of characters for your about section (140)• Use your keyword phrase and a local indicator Your information center and mortgage expert for Palm Harbor Fl.
• Go to Pinterest• Click your name on the top right
• Click the drop down menu were your title (name) is
• Select edit profile
• Just like twitter you are limited to 160 characters. • Use the same description as in Twitter
• You do NOT have to be actively posting on all these sites to be seen in the search results• People who search for you specifically will get a great about you
message• People who search for your keyword phrase will find you organically• Take these easy steps to make your social media work for you
