What is insulin resistance?

The pancreas secretes more and more insulin to try and maintain blood glucose levels to within narrow limits but the cells become resistant to its action and blood glucose levels build up.

UK scientists found drastically cutting calories meant that overweight people taking medication for type 2 diabetes could cease medication after getting into their ideal weight range. Study participants consumed just 800 calories per day.
