colonies gained independence from Britain .They formed the United Station of America . In 1789 George Washington was elected the first president of the USA . New stats joined the Union and the country grew westwards.

USAUSAs flag is well-known all over the world .It has 13 red and white stripes for the number of first colonies that became states and , on a blue rectangle ,50 stars for the current number of states. The national anthem is called "The Star-Spangled Banner"

USAThere are two main political parties in

the USA : the Republicans and the Democrats .Among the biggest of the small parties are the Green party and the Libertarian party.

The legislative branch is exercised by the Congress . The Congress consists of two house : the Senate and the House of Representatives. There are 100 senators and 435 members in the House Representatives.
