OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE OPPORTUNITIES
Peabody Energy is the world’s largest private-sector coal company and a
global leader in clean coal solutions. Our Operations Associate program will
give you unprecedented access to our global platform, which lights lives
and fuels economies in dozens of nations on six continents. Through three
rotations of six to eight months each, you’ll gain hands-on experience in
mining operations using the most sophisticated technologies and equipment

(OA) program provides recent university graduates and current students the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on
experience at the world’s largest private-sector coal company. Our program develops OA candidates with a passion for
operational excellence and continuous improvement into our next generation of leaders.
OA FULL-TIME PROGRAM
Dig into one of our world-class mining operations through three in-depth rotations, where you will experience the unique challenges of surface and/or underground operations.
WHO WE HIRERecent university graduates (within the year prior to start date)
with a degree in mining, mechanical, environmental, civil or
electrical engineering; occupational health and safety; safety
management; or geology. In addition, candidates must have:
• Demonstrated leadership experience in academic, military,
social or civic organizations;
• Industry experience from prior internship(s);
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication, technical and presentation skills;
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
• Geographic mobility during and after the program; and
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
WHAT YOU’LL DOOver 18 to 24 months, you will increase your knowledge and
skills through rotations in:
• Mine Production – Gain experience in mine planning, produc-
tion, preparation, coal handling, mine budgeting and forecasting.
• Continuous Improvement – Learn and apply process improve-
ment tools and techniques, gather and analyze data to defi ne
mining problems and recommend solutions, and participate
in change management activities.
• Functional Area of Interest – Build expertise in your
specialty through an assignment based on your career
interest and education.

OA INTERNSHIPS
Spend the summer working alongside seasoned leaders in one of Peabody Energy’s mining operations.

corporate culture and practices. You’ll learn directly from the
local management team, current Operations Associates and

your skills while you participate in day-to-day operations.

AFTER THE PROGRAMOA interns will take away valuable operations experience,

candidates for participation in the full-time OA program.
