Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to inform you of an exciting event we have planned; on Friday 5th July 2019 Urmston Grammar

will be moving to the Manchester Regional Arena-Sport City-Manchester for our school Sports day.

This is a whole school event and all staff and pupils from Year 7-10 will be expected to attend and participate, consequently the school

building will be closed for the day.

All pupils will be expected to arrive in full school PE kit* at the venue in time for registration with their Form Tutor at 9:30am. We

anticipate the day will end at 2:00pm so we ask that students are collected promptly at this time or alternatively if they are returning to

school we anticipate arrival to be 2:45pm. If you intend to drop off and collect your son/daughter or are happy for them to make their

own way to and from the venue on the day we ask that you specify details on the slip below.

Alternatively, transport via coach will be provided for students to and from the venue at a cost of £5 which is available via Parent Pay.

The deadline for this option is Friday 17th May as numbers will have to be confirmed with the coach company. Students who wish to

take this option will be required to be in school in full school PE kit* for registration at the usual time of 8:30am.

The Manchester Regional Arena is an outstanding venue and has superb facilities including a covered grandstand where students will

be based for the day. However, due to our somewhat changeable weather we expect all pupils to be thoroughly prepared for every

eventuality! Warm clothes, waterproofs and sun tan lotion, as well as a packed lunch and drinks to last the day. A full weather forecast

will be provided on the Thursday 4th July. Parents are more than welcome to come and watch what we anticipate will be a fantastic day

of sport, with a wonderful atmosphere.

By Rail – The closest train stations to Manchester Regional Arena are, Manchester

Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria

By Bus – Service 216 from Piccadilly Gardens

By Metrolink – The quickest way to travel to Manchester Regional Arena from the city centre is via Metrolink.

The Centre has its own Metrolink station – Etihad Campus. The station is on the East Manchester line

running from Bury to Ashton-Under-Lyne via Manchester City Centre. Passengers can connect from services

from Altrincham and Eccles at Manchester Piccadilly or Piccadilly Gardens, and services from East Didsbury,

Chorlton, Oldham and Rochdale at Market Street.
