In 1978, GQ Magazine referred to Izzy as “Mr. Salsa” because he almost single- handedly popularized the term “Salsa” (during the 1970s) which the world now recognizes as the name for New York’s Latin Music. Izzy has a long list of accomplishments, some of which include: being the creator/publisher of Latin NY Magazine from 1973-1985, hosting a NY TV show called “Salsa” (a Latino version of “Soul Train”), and presenting The Latin NY Music Awards (the first Salsa Awards which brought international attention and recognition to Latin music and set off the world-wide salsa explosion). Izzy’s album cover designs and illustrations also set new standards of quality in Latin music packaging and provided the world with its first visual imagery of Salsa. For his numerous contributions to Latin music, Izzy was inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame on April 5, 2000. Pittsburgh 1322 Prospect Road Pittsburgh, PA 15227
