Tractors Playing Chicken

Well I was driving and daydreaming. Wishing I was seeing.Something other than the cars in front of me.Yeah it was slow-go to no-go. I wanted to be home.Somewhere other than a long drive in front of me.

Well it was 15 years ago but it could be 20 or more.And I wouldnt forget about the folks that day.I still tear up when I think about it.All those bright lives lost for.Lost for nothing better than a madmans crazy ideas.And as we look back what do we say ?We only have one answer today.And its easy and its for the friends and the family we pray.

A Farm Dog Named Spot

I grew up on a farm and have fond memories.The sights and the smells often come back to me.The days started early and the work was long.But I always had another who was there with me.

He liked to run the fields in the morning.Never far from us as we worked.He brought us a lot of love and never asked a lot.He was tough. He was loved.

He was a tough old farm dog named Spot.

We came across a hand-painted sign in a yard that saidFree pups for a family with lots of love.My daddy told us wed have to care for him.We smiled, said we would, and got him into the truck.

He grew fast and strong. Could run like the wind.On occasion he would swim with us in the pond.He always seemed to be watching out for us.

And when we were with him nothing ever went wrong.

One evening as the family was all gathered around.And he was with us on the front porch just lying down.18 years had come and gone since he made us his own.And in his sleep he left us with memories of love and home.

Heartland Ghost

It all started when I moved to a new farm.But I chalked it up to it being an old home.Odd things Id hear both day and night.It never made me worry or gave me fright.

Now I live alone with my dog named Spot.Hed look at things not there and perk up his ears a lot.One night I caught a shape out of the corner of my eye.And then I saw the most beautiful women materialize.

Well Im in love with a heartland ghost.

Shes as real as you or me could ever hope.She brings me a chill but her kiss is warm.Im in love with a heartland ghost.

Well I learned quickly not to tell any friends.They said I was crazy or just playing pretend.But every night when Id get back home.It was just me and the prettiest ghost all alone.

Well if things go bump in the night. Dont you knock uponmy door.

Dont need no ghost hunters. Searching for cold spots, ohno.

You see my lovely ghost is always welcoming for sure.She just doesnt like sharing, at all.

In the end I figured it out dont you know.Cleaning out a closet and in the back on the shelf above.There was civil war photo of a soldier and his belle.Looking close I saw that the two of them was us.
