ABOUT THE COLLEGEM.O.P. Vaishnav College for women is committed to the goals of attracting and supporting top caliber women students in areas of higher education. The college started in 1992, and, today it has 17 UG courses, 7 PG courses and a Research Department in Commerce. The college has been re accredited in 2016 at “A ++” grade by NAAC and a 3.56 CGPA on a 4 point scale. The college has the distinction of being the youngest college in the country to have been granted autonomy by UGC and the University of Madras. The college strives to provide students with an exemplary education experience beyond academic excellence. MOPVC equips students with life skills to emerge as confident and responsible citizens to transform the society.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTThe Department of Commerce aims at providing a stimulating learning environ-ment for students with technology and research. The Department contributes to the students’ learning process through a rigorous and dynamic curriculum that high-lights innovation, resourcefulness, technical competence, critical thinking and strategic techniques through experiential and student centric approach. Amongst its students are All India Rank holders in professional courses like ACA, CMA & ACS.Giving a lot of thrust to research, the Department currently has 12 Ph.D. hold-ers as faculty and has produced 8 Ph.D.’s in the past. The Department has been ranked among the Top 50 Arts & Science colleges in India by The Week for the year 2018.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP SERIESA speciality feature of the Department of Commerce is the conduct of the Annual Workshop Series. A plethora of themes ranging from holistic well-being to robotics are offered on the same day as parallel events. Eminent resource persons, life skill trainers and corporate leaders address the students. This year, being the 7th edition of the Annual Workshop Series, the department has opened its doors to the other city college students from the Business stream to participate in the Workshop Series. The theme for this year’s Workshop Series is – ‘Upskilling for the future - Man & Machines’. The probability of machines taking over the workplace with digital disruptions and the ways to work in collaboration with technology will be the focal point of the series.
