Specifically, pay attention to the positioning of the upper loop of the springs, which are circled in the pictures. 1 Proper upper segment carrier spring orientation Figure 1 — Correct Spring Attachment The incorrect way positions the upper loop of the spring perpendicular with the front of the carrier. This incor- rect position can cause the upper loop of the spring to contact the upper segment cam, resulting in the spring failing prematurely. Figure 2 — Incorrect Spring Attachment Note that the correct way positions the upper loop of the spring parallel with the front of the carrier. This may require that the spring be twisted slightly prior to hook- ing the top loop in order to accomplish this.

The incorrect way positions the upper loop of the spring perpendicular with the front of the carrier. This incor-rect position can cause the upper loop of the spring to contact the upper segment cam, resulting in the spring failing prematurely.
