Organising a Visit to the Bradman Exhibition
A successful visit to The Bradman Exhibition should include some pre-planning to famil-iarise the students with some background information on Sir Donald Bradman’s life and exploits.
Using the Activity Sheets
Activity sheets have been put together for teachers to use with their students whilst they are exploring the exhibition or as a classroom activity after the excursion in conjunction with the Bradman Digital Library (http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/bradman).
There are activity sheets for years 3 – 7 and another for years 8 – 11. Both are in accord-ance with the SACSA framework and reflect Society and Environment Key Competencies KC1, KC2 and KC 7. The sheets can be printed out from the State Library website prior to visiting the exhibition or used later to extend the experience or form part of a unit of work on sport or Australia identities.
Organising Groups and the Exhibition
The Bradman Exhibition can only accommodate between 10 and 15 people at one time, so we ask that you divide your class into small groups and have one group view the exhibition whilst the other visits other areas of the State Library, or other institutions along North Terrace.
Points to note
It is advisable to arrive about ten minutes before your booking to allow time for students to stow their bags etc and for teachers to divide students into groups. To ensure the safety of our collection and for the enjoyment of yourselves and others, we ask you to keep the following in mind:
• Teachers are responsible for the behaviour of their students in the exhibition and the Library;• We encourage visitors to look at and enjoy all exhibits, but touch only the touch screens and the telephones;• The Library prefers a ratio of one teacher per fifteen students;• Pencils are preferred in the exhibition and in the Library;• It is advisable that students bring something sturdy to write on.
Opening Hours
The Bradman Collection is open every day from 10am- 5pm
Bookings for school visits can be made by contacting the Bradman Desk on 08 8207 7215.

Newspaper banners are headlines for a major story in a newspaper.
The banners were placed in wire frames outside newsagents’ shops so people would see the headlines before they bought a newspaper.
Select a newspaper banner from the following six banners and find the story outline for your headline. Write the first paragraph of the news story in your own words on the back of your chosen banner.
