March 25 th , 2015 Dear Parents, Scholars in third to fifth grade will be taking State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exams on the following dates below: March 30 th : Grade 4 Writing March 31 st : Grade 4 Writing and Grade 5 Reading April 20 th : Grade 5 Math April 21 st : Grades 3 & 4 Math April 22 nd : Grades 3 & 4 Reading and Grade 5 Science These are very important tests for your child. They will measure how well your child has learned the writing, math, reading, and science objectives. Fifth grade scholars must pass reading in order to be promoted. It is important that your child be in attendance and on time that day. Often on testing days, regular schedules are modified so scholars will not be interrupted during the school day. Please arrange any doctor's appointments after school. The scholars will have four hours to complete their test. Testing will begin first thing in the morning. The four hours includes restroom and snack breaks. Your child will not need to bring a snack since a snack and a bottle of water will be provided by the school. Scholars will be dismissed at normal time each day. Scholars will not need their backpack on testing days. Please leave all backpacks and any cell phones at home. Scholars may bring a sweater, a bottle of water, and their lunch if they don’t eat from the cafeteria. Testing regulations require that scholars not have access to cell phones during testing. In order to comply with this regulation, scholars’ cell phones will be collected by teacher at beginning of day and returned to them at the end of the testing session. We recommend that scholars do not bring cells phones to school on testing days. Estimados padres,

Los alumnos de tercero a quinto ano tomaran las pruebas de STAAR (Pruebas del estado) durante las siguientes fechas que a continuación indicamos:

30 de marzo: Escritura para 4to grado31 de marzo: Escritura para 4to grado; Lectura para 5to grado20 de abril: Matemáticas de 5to grado 21 de abril: Matemáticas de 3ero y 4to grado22 de abril: Lectura de 3ero y 4to grado así como Ciencias de 5to grado

Estas pruebas son muy importantes para sus alumnos. Esto determinara que tanto aprendió su alumno en las materias de Matemáticas, Lectura, Escritura y Ciencias. Para los alumnos de 5to grado es un requisito pasar todos los Pruebas de STAAR para ser promovido al 6to grado.

Es importante que su alumno este presente y a tiempo en los días señalados. Muy a menudo, los horarios son modificados durante los días de prueba para que no sean interrumpidos. Por favor haga todas las citas médicas para después de clases.

Los alumnos tendrán cuatro horas para terminar la prueba. Las pruebas iniciaran puntualmente al inicio de clases. Las cuatro horas incluye idas al baño así como descansos de bocadillos.

Los alumnos no necesitaran sus mochilas durante los días de prueba. Por favor deje todas las mochilas y teléfonos celulares en casa. Los alumnos podrán traer un suéter, una botella con agua y su almuerzo sino comen en la cafetería.

Los reglamentos estipulan que los alumnos no deben tener acceso a teléfonos celulares durante la prueba. Para poder cumplir con este reglamento, los celulares serán entregados a los profesores al inicio de clases y se les devolverán al terminar el día. Les recomendamos que los alumnos no traigan celulares durante los días de prueba.

Para que su alumno tenga mejor rendimiento durante las pruebas por favor asegúrese que haga lo siguiente:

Que obtenga un buen descanso la noche anterior al examen Coma un desayuno nutritivo Llegue a la escuela a las 7:45 am Traer sus lentes, si los usa Toma sus medicamentes como son requeridos Alentarlo en una manera positiva sin presión
