Guidelines Before Updating BEFORE PROCEEDING with the Update, the following criteria must be met:
1. To update to AVImark 18.10.0 or higher, you MUST be running Client Server. See “Appendix A” on page 10.
2. Any computer running Windows XP or Vista will NOT work with AVImark 18.10.0 and above. Please review the Hardware Requirements.
3. Check your version of AVImark by going to Help | About AVImark from the Client Information Display. If you are running AVImark Version 2010.4.0 or below, do not proceed without first speaking with Technical Support to learn about the Updating Procedure.
4. If you are using Rapport and currently running a version older than 18.10, please contact AVImark Support to schedule an update.
Open AVImark Guardian With your mouse over the AVImark Guardian icon on the Desktop, right-click and from the shortcut menu, choose Run as administrator.
In AVImark Server Guardian, with the option Open AVImark Server selected, click Run.

The AVImark Server opens.
Run a Backup Before backing up your AVImark files, be sure all workstations have closed AVImark
From AVImark Server, click on Utilities | BACK UP AVImark Files.
Click Yes to proceed with the backup.

Backup Options Select the option Program file and Verify backup then click Backup.
Once the backup is finished, a Backup verifie successfully message will appear. Click OK on the message.
Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the backup location. Verify the backup has size and today’s date.

Download and Install the Update 1. If you closed AVImark Server, follow the steps on page 1 to open AVImark Guardian and
AVImark Server.
2. From AVImark Server, click on Utilities | Update AVImark.
3. Click Yes on the message to proceed with the download.
4. The AVImark Update Assistant will open.
5. Read the Agreement and check I Have Read and agree to the terms... Click Next.
6. Select Download the latest official relea . Click Next.

7. This will take you to the Download option. You will see that it displays the new version, old version and the unique AVImark zip file that is downloaded into the AVImark folder
8. Click Download. It will start downloading the file from the AVImark download site and place i in the AVImark folder.

9. After the files have been downloaded, it will start the install process
10. Click Run for both prompts that will appear for Security Updates.
11. Click Update to proceed with the update process.

12. Before the actual file update happens, the program will automatically rebuild the Reminde and Entry History indexes. These are some of the larger indexes so please allow for enough time for this process.
13. Once the rebuild is complete, you will proceed with the update process and at the end, it will rebuild any indexes that need it, this will include the Reminder and Entry History indexes again along with any others that have issues.
14. Open AVImark Guardian and verify the Service is running after update.

Appendix A: Installing ClientServer

Installing ClientServer During Update Follow the steps below to run the update , which will install the ClientServer for AVImark.
1. On the Windows desktop, right-click on AVImark.exe and choose Run as administrator from the shortcut menu.
2. When the program opens, click on Utilities | Update AVImark from the menu. The AVImark Update Assistant will run.
3. To move to the next screen, check the option “ I have read and agree to the terms of the services agreement”. To view the agreement prior to proceeding, click on the link: https://softwareservices.covetrus.com/user-agreements/.
4. Click Next.

5. On the Update Assistant, select the option to “Download the latest official release” then cli Next.
6. Verify the Current version and Download version are correct then click on the Download button.

If you did not run AVImark “As administrator” prior to updating, you will receive the message displayed below and you will need to start with step 1 above.
7. AVImark will automatically start installing downloaded files. However, the user will need t click Run in the Security Warning window for both the AVImark.exe and the MPS.exe.

8. Once the installation is complete, the ClientServer Setup Assistant will open. Click on the Install Service button.
There are links to both the AVImark Recommended Anti-virus and Firewall Settings and Updating AVImark using Client Server documents for future reference.
9. AVImark will open the AVImark Server and proceed with the update.
10. Once the update is complete, all users should be able to access AVImark.
