New Oak Ridge Branch Now Open
THRIVING THROUGH GROWTHMember surveys and focus groups have told us that our facilities need to be updated, and we couldn’t agree more. Our goal is to provide the best banking experience across all channels and to do so, we must adapt to changing consumer needs and behaviors. We invite you to visit our brand new Oak Ridge Branch (215 S. Rutgers Avenue) and remodeled West Knoxville Branch (8721 Kingston Pike) to see how we’re updating our branches to deliver enhanced member value. Several other locations will also be remodeled this year, including the Oak Ridge Corporate Headquarters, Clinton Branch, Kingston Branch, and North Branch.
These renovations are part of our ongoing larger facilities plan to accommodate the Credit Union’s future growth needs, consolidate back office operations, and cut leasing expenses. The updates embody the brand image of the Credit Union and will provide members with convenience, access to emerging technologies, and a great user experience. Plus, they will offer high-efficiency, forward-looking work environments.
A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD CHAIRIn 2015, ORNL FCU made significant progress on many strategic goals and initiatives, all designed to provide value to members at the intersection of technology, convenience, and experience. Our Credit Union remains financially strong and well positioned to support future growth.
On behalf of your Board of Directors, thank you for making ORNL FCU your financial partner. We look forward to a thriving 2016!
Marcy Catron ORNL FCU, Board Chair

It’s very important to us that you benefit from the power of credit union membership. Did you know that right now, you have access to almost 30,000 Fee-Free ATMs across the country? Because credit unions work together to add value to members and reduce fees, you can make fee-free withdrawals at all participating Co-Op and Easy Street machines. Don’t forget to look for the Co-Op and Easy Street signs!
Financial literacy is understanding how money works through knowledge and skill in order to be financially
well-rounded. It is much more than balancing a checkbook or comparing prices of a product. It also includes more extensive skills like long-term vision and planning, money discipline, etc. As society evolves it is important to stay up-to-date with financial best practices.
Here are 5 Ways to Grow Your Financial Literacy*:
1. USE U.S. GOVERNMENT RESOURCES Mymoney.gov is a great place to learn the basics of financial education. They offer advice about buying a home, investing in a 401(k), and so much more!
2. Read Newspapers and Magazines Start with your local and regional newspaper finance and business sections. In addition, the Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times will shed light on domestic and global finances and business. Look into magazines like Fortune, Forbes, and Money for more materials.
3. Take a Financial Literacy Class You can find financial classes at a local adult education center or a junior college. Classes are also available
online. Self-help books are another great way to teach yourself about personal money management.
4. Listen to Talk Radio There are a number of radio shows that offer financial advice. You can learn from callers’ questions and financial problems. Some financial radio shows include: The Dave Ramsey Show, Moneytalk with Bob Brinker, and The Clark Howard Show.
5. Watch Financial TV Offerings Many television programs offer financial information. CNBC TV, Nightly Business Report, CNN, and Fox Business News are a few television channels that offer well-known financial programming.
It is great to diversify your information supply. Expert advice is very helpful. It is important to always consider the source of the information you are receiving. Knowing yourself and your financial needs will help you determine who you should and should not trust for financial information.
As always, ORNL FCU is thrilled to help with any financial questions. Information is knowledge, and we are here to assist you with anything that comes your way!
